We had the good fortune of connecting with Christin Finch, CEO and Co-Founder of Let Thy Food, a plant-based natural foods company based in Colorado. We’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
When Chef Jeremy and I co-founded Let Thy Food, many people close to us told us that we would fail. Our greatest resource has been in our unwavering vision for what is possible, and in pursuing that vision wholeheartedly. Many times along the way, we have faced obstacles that were enormous and felt truly insurmountable. In those moments of not knowing how, we held steadfastly onto why. And somehow, the answers always arrive, the path always presents itself. I believe that is the power of good intention, the power of goodness. My life spent fighting against what is expected of women in my own culture and upbringing, against enormous pain, prepared me to pursue dreams, fight forward, hone skills, gain experience, acquire knowledge, reject discouragement, embrace originality, and not seek permission, approval, or acceptance from anyone. It was no great disturbance to myself or Chef Jeremy to have so many people tell us that they thought we would fail. Our compass is pointed toward what is possible. We’ve grown our integrity-driven, independent company through sheer determination, relentless optimism, and hard work. It was never easy, but we’ve never accepted disappointment, failure, or rejection, as the final word. That has made all the difference.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Let Thy Food is unique in every way, and we pour love, quality, and integrity into everything we do. There’s rooted power in the authenticity, sincerity, and integrity of Let Thy Food. We started Let Thy Food because when we were in a hospital waiting room facing adverse circumstances, we had a moment of deep clarity. Many people are suffering due to dietary related illness, and it’s not because anyone wakes up and asks how they can harm their own health today. We all want food that is joyful and delicious and satisfying, and Chef Jeremy and I deeply believe that joyful, delicious, satisfying food can also be whole and nourishing. We deeply understand from our own lived experiences, that to be nourished, to be well, is to have power to do profound good in the world. As much as we can contribute to nourishing others, contribute to nourishing wellness, contribute to growing goodness in the world, that is where we will be devoting our lives. We are so honored to be able to do the work we do, and we are so grateful for the support of our community that has allowed us to do this work. We get so many messages and emails from friends of Let Thy Food, telling us how much they love Let Thy Food, and how they have shared Let Thy Food and our story with their friends, family, and community. This is how we’ve grown, through grassroots love for Let Thy Food. We are so deeply grateful for the support and love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our favorite Colorado destination will always be to the forest for a week of camping, conversation, hiking, stargazing, photography, and amazing food. Reconnecting to nature is profoundly beautiful, and it’s where we go to recharge our purpose and our peace. We’d hike in the mornings and evenings, and photograph the Milky Way at night. For breakfast, we’d have savory pancakes, chickpea frittatas and omelets, breakfast burritos, with Let Thy Food Quesos. For lunch, we’d be all about dipping Let Thy Food, sandwiches, salads, and tacos. For dinner, we’d have burgers, campfire pizza, and soups and stews with Smoky Chedd’r Biscuits. And for dessert, campfire cinnamon rolls, s’mores, chewy chocolate chip cookies, and creamy hot cocoa. There would be infinite snuggle time with the pups among the evergreens, plus plenty of inspired and inspiring conversation about dreams and how to realize them. It’s the dreamiest Let Thy Food weekend.
