We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerry Gallegos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerry, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most important factors behind my success thus far has been the ability to persevere. No situation has been perfect, but I believe the unwanted circumstances, situations, and failures have developed me into the individual that I am today. Once I started viewing these as areas of opportunity, it has completely changed my day to day approach. It is also something that has helped our company at Core Progression Elite Personal Training. We have been learning from prior mistakes which has allowed us to keep pushing forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently the General Manager at Core Progression Elite Personal Training – South Broadway. I recently opened the company’s newest location a little over a year ago. We provide a high level of personal training, helping people reach a variety of health and fitness goals.

My career actually started in the roofing industry and not fitness. I worked with a corporate roofing distributor and also have done door to door roofing sales. These roles taught me the value of putting my pride aside and solely focusing on hard work. I kept my foot in the door with fitness, helping others online and some friends with building workouts. I knew I wanted to get into the industry, I just didn’t know how.

I found Core Progression by meeting the Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Lewis, at a local gym. He had mentioned the opening of a new location in South Denver and I knew it would be the right fit for me. From there, the rest was history. I was finally able to integrate my passion for business and helping others and their health goals.

While everyone might see me doing what I love daily now, it was my prior experiences that have made me truly appreciate the role and position that I am in currently. No one ever saw a door getting slammed in my face doing roofing sales. No one ever saw me loading roof shingles in the summertime. But those experiences developed me as an individual more than anything. I am grateful for those days cause they have made me the hard worker that I am today.

What sets me apart from others is I have a genuine care and love for people. I love the opportunity of getting to help others in any way that I can. I hear so many individuals’ stories everyday and its made me realize our society craves trust and confidence. The role for myself and my trainers is so crucial to building that for each person. While I help people reach their fitness goals, its more valuable for me when these people also develop self-confidence and a sense of worth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are tons of fun spots in the city of Denver and I absolutely love the city. I love venturing out to the local breweries such as Denver Beer Company or New Terrain out in Golden. Red Rocks is also a must see for any type of concert or even Saturday morning workout with views. In the mountains, I love the town of Breckenridge. It is the coolest mountain town with awesome places to eat and adventure out to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Core Progression Elite Personal Training and the entire managing staff deserve a major shoutout:

Jon Cerf- CEO
Austin Zakroczemski – Vice President
Jeff Lewis – COO

These 3 have played pivotal parts in my development as an individual and how I view our business today. They are extremely hard working, have a wealth of knowledge, and a desire for development. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without them.
