Meet Victoria Higdon | Organic colorist and vivid specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Higdon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m a Colorado native and wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel inspired my the natural beauty here every day. Growing up I was always taught that if you want it you have to earn it. My parents were the prime example of hard work. It was instilled in me from early on that you don’t need a pat on the back every time you do your job, you have to be your own motivator and advocate, we work because that’s what we are supposed to do . However I’m blessed enough to have a family that’s encouraged my creativity every step of the way. They’ve motivated me to continue learning and growing and building my own empire. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have the confidence and work ethic I do today, to provide my own family now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been a hairstylist for 16 years, originally specializing in redken, I’ve recently made the switch to all nutrient organic hair color to focus more on my clients hair health. I also specialize in vivid hair colors using pulp riot which is vegan and cruelty free. When I’m behind the chair I honestly feel like I’m painting a canvas with each new guest that trusts me to work on them. I continue my education constantly to keep me current and my clients happy! I grew up watching my mom who was a very successful stylist as well. I remember watching her work for hours and just studying everything she was doing. I owe a lot of my knowledge to my mom for allowing me to be a part of her business all those years. The fact I’m now in a position where I own my own studio, Finch Salon Llc, is what the goal always was. It’s my safe space that I get to share with all the wonderful people that have made my career a success. Im able to create a safe, judgement free space for clients of all types to come and enjoy an experience that results in healthy, individualized hair.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Aside from exploring the outdoors, I absolutely love metal and hardcore music. I’m fortunate enough to know some amazing local bands and seeing them perform at the marquis or moon room is one of my favorite ways to hang out with friends. The only thing that makes music better is if it’s paired with an Avalanche game surrounded by Denver’s best.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and my 4 children give me purpose. I wake up every day and create on my clients because my family supports me enough that I get to pursue my dream. They make sure I have time to continue my education and stay inspired.
