We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailee Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of our elopement photography and videography business has been the time and effort we put into cultivating a friendship with our couples. One of the things that we have really strived to do is to make sure that all of our couples are not only taken care of but also seen and heard. We want every interaction we have with each of our couples to feel like they are chatting with an old friend. This type of friendship cultivation really helps on the day of their elopement because our couples usually feel very comfortable in front of our cameras and in turn, they get photos and video of their wedding day that truly feel like them.

Most of the time, we are meeting our couples in person for the first time on their wedding day. Because of this, we put a lot of time into sending our couples questionnaires to help us get to know them and their relationship better and we love to check in and make sure that they have everything they need to have the most present and incredible elopement day. When the couple feels trust and friendship from us, they are able to really focus on each other and their wedding day and their photos and wedding video will reflect that. The way that we truly care for our couples is definitely the most important factor behind our success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In a nutshell, my husband (Alpine Vows’ videographer) and I, work with couples who don’t want the big wedding, so they choose a more intimate and authentic wedding experience. We help couples pick a beautiful location in Colorado to get married at and build a wedding day that is centered around them and their love for each other.

Eloping gives space for couples to be 100% themselves and present on their wedding day. This allows us the opportunity to capture genuine emotions and moments that reflect the couple’s relationship and their love for the outdoors.

It is the most incredible job and it is never lost on me just how lucky I am to be living out my dream! I grew up in Montana and spent most of my life outside and adventuring in the mountains. Adventure elopement photography felt like the perfect fit because I get to combine my love for the outdoors with my love for wedding photography.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting for a week and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would take them to the mountains. Colorado’s mountains are so diverse and beautiful. We are located in Fort Collins, so I would definitely take them to Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding mountain areas. Breckenridge is one of our favorite places to go hiking so we would definitely do that. We do love dropping into downtown Fort Collins for a cider at Scrumpy’s and some street tacos at The Taco Stop or an incredible sandwich from Yampa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely!! The elopement photographer community is the absolute best. Everyone is so kind, supportive, and encouraging. There are so many people who have encouraged me and without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My husband, Jake (and the 2nd half of Alpine Vows), has been my biggest supporter. He has encouraged me from day one to turn my passion for elopement photography into a reality. I truly could not have done this without his constant support and love. The second person is Maddie Mae from Adventure Instead. She is an adventure elopement photographer here in Colorado. I am a part of her Facebook group and have invested in her courses and she is the most outstanding and supportive member of the elopement photography community. Her story inspired me to explore elopement photography five years ago and I haven’t looked back! Lastly, there are just so many incredible family members, friends, and photographer friends who are constantly cheering me on and being the most incredible examples!
