We had the good fortune of connecting with Erynn Dostaler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erynn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have truly always been drawn to owning my own business. When it comes to photography and pairing my passion and college degree with owning something that is solely mine, it just made sense. I always need to be learning and being challenged with whatever I am doing and that’s what my business does for me. The days, photoshoots and people are ever evolving and changing. I am challenged every day when it comes to my passion and business. Being my own boss is just…. the best!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel that I am always striving to be better and create differently. I don’t ever want to become stagnant in my art. Being a creative individual can be a constant struggle of comparison to others work paired with undeniable pride of your accomplishments. I am so excited to be able to give myself the grace I need to create bodies of work that I am proud of. There will be lessons and challenges in anything you do, especially in owning your own business and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to be out and about exploring!
Go up and hike in Rocky Mountain National Park and then shop around and eat at Bird and Jim’s.
Paddleboard up on Lake Evergreen, followed by food and live music at Cactus Jack’s Saloon.
Brunch at the Pig and the Sprout is a must!
Cocktails at Run for the Roses!
Go to one of the local farmers markets followed up by a local bluegrass festival!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dad introduced me to photography at a very young age. He always included me in whatever photography project he was working on. My parents got me my first camera and always kept up on getting me the newest technology to play with. I love film photography as well, we can’t forget all of the film cameras that were handed down to me over the years. One day, I’ll have a makeshift dark room in my bathroom just like my dad 🙂
