We had the good fortune of connecting with Puma Swede and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Puma, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I discovered psychedelics at Burning Man a few years back. I’ve just been amazed how they enhance my life in various ways and don’t want to stop exploring the possibilities. Since I’ve always loved being creative and colorful clothes, I thought of combining those two into my brand Psychonaut Explorer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This is a new and different way of being creative for me. I like the fact that I’m able to produce, work and support locals here in Mexico with the new clothes I design. But not only producing more and new, but also using recycled clothes which I then put my own touch to by adding text, paint, embroider and embellish.

The challenge has been patience. I have come to the terms that everything takes about five times longer than I expect or want; building the website, production, creating the content etc…

I believe in the rise of psychedelics and what they can do. Through my clothes I want to unite fellow Psychonauts and awake curiosity in others…

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I’d take my friend to the local taco guy just around the corner – Rifados Taqueria. Pretty much a hole in the wall, but their el pastor tacos and quesadillas are what catnip is to a cat!

Coffee is a must for function, so we’d hit my favorite spots of specialty coffees during the week – Chiquitito Cafe, Specialty Coffee Society, Cardinal Coffee House, Drip Specialty Coffee and Almanegra Cafe.

Dinner would be trying the tasting menus at the restaurants Maximo and Lorea. Also eat some seafood at the always popular Contramar, some French food at Havre 77, and the outdoor garden vibe at Traspatio. In the between we’d just grabbing street tacos that always are delicious!

A massage and some relaxation Vitali Spa when we get tired.

A visit to Boxque Teva is a must. Like a little retreat in the woods with the coolest design, different activities and not to forget a big mushroom shaped house where you can create art. My favorite place when I want to relax and get fresh air…

To smell good we’d visit Xinu Perfumes. One of the coolest stores I visited here and you get a tour were they explain the scents.

We end the night with some Mezcal or ‘Carajillo’ coffee drink at say Xaman Bar or Hanky Panky Coctail Bar. Both very hidden and hard to spot on the outside…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all my family, who despite my various career paths always stood behind me. The book ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ by Tim Ferriss. It made me realise that I don’t have to be stationary. So far I got rid of almost everything I owned three times and moved around in the world. Also some credit to myself for having the (imaginary) balls to just say yes and go for the life that I want.
