Meet Rosario Moore | Author and illustrator of The Wholks (children’s bilingual books)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosario Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rosario, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My ultimate goal as author and illustrator of THE WHOLKS (A Wonderful World of Socks) children’s book series is to be part of the movement and emotional, educational change for new generations. To be a tool for dynamic education for parents, teachers, and anyone who is part of the educational system and is currently facing significant changes. My goal is to be able to help leave a better world than the one I found and prepare the new generations to meet their challenges, tools, and topics that I would have loved to have access to in my childhood. A significant objective for me, on the other hand, is to be inclusive and grateful to Mexican and American cultures through language. My goal is to increase and motivate reading early in other countries. I want to show my culture and my gratitude to the US market through my bilingual books that have generously opened the door for me in this beautiful country. My books represent for me, being in the same sky, under the same roof, two different cultures living together of respect for peace and cultural exchange through two other languages. It represents that we can have a fun coexistence and motivates young readers to start a second language.

What should our readers know about your business?
Getting started in the exciting world of books is a source of pride for me because I am not only the author of THE WHOLKS (a wonderful world of socks) bilingual children’s book series but also the illustrator. I am proud and excited to be able to share new experiences with the new generations in a world of socks that show that with their differences, they make a wonderful world. I was proud to be an example of the constant struggle to position myself as an author and illustrator. It makes me happy to be able to share with children when I have the opportunity to have them as an audience, to share that dreams come true, that there are no limits to making them come true if you fight for them and overcome obstacles that life can throw at you, just as I did. I have faced them, and I continue doing them to continue my dream. The road to publication has been challenging. However, it has been a rewarding process. This process has led me to discover stages and personal aspects that I was unaware of. It has been a learning process of constant preparation, looking for new opportunities for my message to reach the whole world, and it will be so. I have overcome challenges of different kinds. However, the most complex challenge and, at the same time, the most marvelous is believing in myself and trusting in what I am doing. When you have a dream that will leave something positive in this world, whatever happens, if you fight for it, it will come true sooner or later. Through my series of bilingual books, THE WHOLKS, I want to help generations that were introduced at an early age to the wonderful world of reading and awaken interest in a second language. I am interested in being a tool for parents, teachers, for the entire educational sector on fundamental issues today. I am interested in children knowing and knowing the wonders of gratitude, being positive, resilient, having positive decrees, and loving each other as they are, among others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The essential thing in the city of Chattanooga, where I currently live, in addition to its beautiful colors full of beautiful landscapes, is cultural diversity. It is a city with wonderful people open to receiving cultural exchange for the different nationalities that inhabit the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children are my greatest inspiration and motivation to improve this world. On the other hand, throughout my teaching, I have had the opportunity to be part of the educational process as a teacher for hundreds of students both in Mexico and the United States. Seeing the challenges they face every day, they inspired me and continue to do so to give something of me that remains in their memories and their learning through my stories.
