We had the good fortune of connecting with Rowan Grace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rowan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I always had a love for music ever since I was really little. My grandma and my mom would sing to me before I went to bed every night and would introduce me to new and old music all the time. As I grew up, this passion for music only grew. I then dove into dancing and acting, and just any hobby I could that involved music and performing. When I was younger, I couldn’t verbalize why I loved music so much, But now that I’m older, I realize why I’m so connected to music and performing. Music is where I have my voice. I use songwriting to help myself cope or get through any emotional challenges I have in my life. I also use songwriting to share the stories of others and share things that can be relatable to people. For me, music has had such an impact on my life and has help me get through so much, that I knew my passion was to make music like that for others. Music is such a powerful thing and the music builds such a community. Music has a way of bringing people together and letting us realize that we are all just human.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been more serious about writing, performing, and singing since around 9. I started by singing the National Anthem at various events, singing at open mics, and then eventually forming my band and playing around the state all summer. one of the most exciting things that happened was that I was allowed to audition for the television show The Voice, just a little under a year ago, and it completely changed my life. It was such an amazing opportunity to work with amazing artists, like my coaches Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, and also get to show millions of people my passion for writing, performing, and singing. So far this has been the most fulfilling, as well as a challenging part of my career. Sometimes it was difficult because of the pressure, loss of confidence, and the comparison of the competition, but I also came out of this experience as a better artist. I am only 17, so I am looking forward to continuing to learn and grow as a musician and artist. I know that in the future there will be a lot more hardships and even more accomplishments, and I can not wait to experience it all!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would tell people to go to our downtown area! There are a lot of amazing places to eat, and many cool small businesses that you could check out. One of my favorites is Shop On The Rox, and Garbage Tale Vintage! You can also find live music downtown, especially in the summer. There are a few places downtown that I have even played at myself, and will be playing at in the future! It’s a great area with a lot to do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give credit to my dad, Cory, for believing in me, and helping me get to where I am today. He is a musician himself, and has been supporting me and helping me get as many opportunities as I can ever since I told him I wanted to be a “famous singer” at the age of 8. I love him so much and I wouldn’t be where I am without him!
