We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, what do you attribute your success to?
This is something that I am constantly remining myself of, especially when the cruel comparisons creep in. I try not to measure my success by the $$ amount but rather by the reasons in which I started this journey.
I measure my success:
– By the growth of my freedom.
– By what truly matters. My happiness and the happiness I bring to others.
– By the connections and friendships I make along the way.
– By overcoming obstacles and uncomfortable situations.
– By the quality of my work and the continued passion I feel after every single event!

The five most important principles, if you ask me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mountainesque Weddings & Elopements was created on the idea of curating magical moments among beautiful backdrops. Experiencing your day as you’ve truly imagined it, and staying true to whatever traditions or trends best fit you. Find us on mountaintops, cute little airbnbs in the woods or breathtaking mountain town venues!
Our couples value intention over tradition, and understand that stuffy wedding traditions aren’t necessarily what makes their special day memorable. We create experiences rather than 6 hours soirees, so that quality time remains the core of the celebration.

We understand this sets us a part from other planning companies, and love that we offer this perspective for our couples!

We’ve learned the importance in finding what we’re good at, and honing in on our passions.

Come adventure with us!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well we’d have to wake up at 3am to fit everything in one day! We’d order breakfast burritos at Backcountry Gourmet, swing by Taste for a warm cup of coffee and head north to Silverton, Colorado. It would be late September when the aspen trees turn yellow, and we’d stop along the highway at every picturesque corner to take selfies and enjoy the views. We’d make our way to a beautiful alpine lake, and pump up our paddleboards to enjoy an ice cold brewski on the lake. Before heading home – If we were feeling really adventurous, we’d end the day at Handlebars with a plate of rocky mountain oysters! Yum! haha

Honestly though, there are too many fun spots out here! It’s hard to choose just one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give credit to many who have played an important role in shaping Mountainesque both directly and indirectly. First being Mrs. Emily Spencer, who introduced me to the world of events and the joy it can bring to others. She opened a door that has since allowed me to meet other like-minded entrepreneurs.

The community of vendors in Southwest Colorado have been nothing short of welcoming and supportive. Their continued encouragement plays such an important role in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

My family who has never displayed a single doubt in my journey. They most certainly deserve all the credit
