We had the good fortune of connecting with Miss Cadabra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miss, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Creativity is one of the most important factors that have pushed Smoke to Smoke to where it is today. I’ve always had the urge to get into creative projects, but after graduating, I didn’t have much reason to do a “project” per se anymore, and I could tell how fidgety I was starting to get after years of barely creating any art at all,
Although I started out the podcast with a friend that ultimately couldn’t align schedules for the show, I feel that if I didn’t push my creativity and quickly make this shift from casual conversations about MMJ between buddies to the Canna-Talk Show that it is today, Smoke to Smoke probably wouldn’t have lasted much longer than those first few episodes!
However, the creativity that goes into the show isn’t just in the conversations and audio production. The podcast has been a fantastic outlet for a variety of creative mediums, from commercial production to graphic design to self-hosting game shows, and not to forget to mention finding a creative way to still connect with a community without showing my face for the entire first year of the podcast’s existence!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m the host of the Smoke to Smoke podcast! It’s an educational cannabis show that I’ve created with the hopes of broadening the conversation on cannabis and breaking down the stigma on its consumption. At the core of the show, I’ve started making my way around the cannabis and hemp industry in the past year, having conversations with each guest about their personal impact on the industry, their passion for the plant, and uncovering more about each of them beyond their job and content creation. What stands me apart from a majority of other podcasts that fall within my niche is that Smoke to Smoke is an Audio only show! This was intentional, as I originally designed the show to be something to listen to passively while doing other tasks! I’m a busybody, and trying to make myself stay on one tab on my phone for an hour is a lot to ask, and I figure there are others out there who relate to that issue. As much as I’ve pondered on the idea of switching to visual, I just feel the current route is what’s best for the show right now.
And that has, of course, made it hard to market to a large audience who might gravitate toward seeing something happening on a screen. To overcome this challenge, I have actually added a visual element to the show to some extent with the Instagram page and now the website. To make the podcast pique the interests of a random insta-scroller, I’ve gotten into making infographics, promotional videos, and commercials that tie into episodes or fit into a certain holiday theme, depending on the time of year!
It was not easy building the community that I have today, but the slow and steady grassroots approach to networking across the nation has definitely helped in building more valuable personal connections with my audience. I want the world to know that I am not by any means an expert. Not a doctor, a lawyer, or an accountant; I’m just somebody whose become very passionate about destigmatizing cannabis because of how much it’s helped my journey in coping with PTSD. It’s helped with my sleep, my ability to eat, my mood, my pain, and the whole shebang, and I wanted to share how it could help people like myself who might benefit from alternative medicine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, my husband and I are actually pretty new in town. Like, one month old new! So, we really haven’t had a chance to explore the city. However, what we have gotten to explore in Colorado Springs has been absolutely magnificent! The place I’m thinking of specifically is the Garden of the Gods Nature Center, It doesn’t even feel like I’m in a real place, but instead, somewhere magical. The view from up high, looking at the red rocks and out into the expanse of trees, was something that I’d recommend to anybody who enjoys scenic hikes.
If you’re adjusted to the altitude of course, you can’t miss out on checking out the Rocky Mountains, the highest and most picturesque summit being Pikes Peak. To get a better feel for historic Colorado Springs, There’s also plenty of interesting museums to check out around town, and even and interesting little penny arcade!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, who inspired me to get back to creating something special to share with the world. There are plenty of times when I don’t have the most confidence in my potential, but my loving husband has always been by my side to support me through my ups and downs and keep me motivated to keep going with my podcast after quitting several other creative projects I’ve done in the past. He watches my commercials (I know, how fun it must be having to watch commercials!), gives feedback when new episodes air, and even throws ideas back and forth with me to get my creative juices flowing and really add that nice finishing touch I need no matter what it might be.
