Meet Sarah Peirce | Profesional Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Peirce and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve worked in the Gig economy for nearly 30 years. As a creative with many ideas, I’ve enjoyed having some control over my environment and projects that I feel passionate about. Starting my own business was a result of finding where my passion was strongest. I specialize in a natural makeup look, which works for a lot of Colorado brides. I also enjoy doing photoshoots with people of all ages. My work is my creative outlet, and I enjoy applying that to my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Makeup, for me, is my creative outlet. I love having different ‘canvases’ (faces) to work on. Over the 30 years I’ve been a professional makeup artist, I’ve come to love the subtleties of makeup, with a few well placed products you can enhance the natural beauty that everyone has. I grew up in England during the ‘Punk’ era, makeup wasn’t about looking pretty, it was about artistic expression. I also remember when I was 13 yrs old I was in the Girl Guides (Girl Scouts) we did a First Aid course where they reconstructed different accident scenes, Makeup artists had applied different wounds to actors and we learnt how to bandage them. My first thoughts were, forget the bandaging, how do I do the makeup!
Later I trained as an esthetician and eventually I went to London College of Fashion to train in all aspects of Makeup, we did everything from special effects, to runway makeup.
Establishing myself as a makeup artist wasn’t easy, I didn’t have social media to help promote myself. I got jobs through networking. Starting out I worked on Movies, Photoshoots, TV and Theatre. I worked for Disney Channel for several years as the Head Makeup Artist for ‘Studio Disney’, a live daily show. Moving to America was a big change, I wasn’t sure what work I would be doing. I’ve been in beautiful Colorado for 12 years now. I love working on weddings, Colorado brides are the best! I also work with some amazing photographers. I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I love for my work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve had family and friends visiting from the UK several times. I love taking them to Estes Park, Nederland. Meow Wolf. Rabbit Hole Escape rooms. Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks. Denver Center for the Performing arts. Winter time -snowmobiling in Winter Park is my favorite.
In the Summer – Paddle boarding or Kayaking, Farmers markets.
Restaurants -Louisville – Por, Waterloo, Sushi Yoshi, Bawarchi, Sweet Cow. Boulder – Spruce Farm & Fish, Japango.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly I want to shoutout to my family who have always supported my creative journey. I would like to shoutout the amazing clients that I’ve had the honor and pleasure of working with, I’ve had some amazing people in my makeup chair. I want to shoutout the multitalented photographer Jeremy Rill who always makes his clients look stunning and always makes me smile. I also must shoutout my favorite actor Andrea Dratch, not only is she an incredibly talented women in so many different ways, she’s a joy to work with.
