We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Ernst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Andrew – my business partner – and I have a two-pointed approach to business: Excellent products, and excellent customer service. On the product end we care very much about real-world function, durability, and appearance. On the customer service side, we make sure to be proactive communicators and to only make promises we can keep. This has served us well over the last decade as customers have responded positively to the products we build and offer to the world. It hasn’t always been easy, but we love our work and are good and just plugging away!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you’re in Durango, mountain time, river time, and Main Street time are a must. Horse Gulch is a fun trail system; rafting or tubing the Animas River is a great way to spend a day; and finishing up with dinner and a drink at 11th Street Station always hits the spot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our employees definitely deserve credit – especially Shandra and Jackie, who have been with us since the beginning and help us keep things running smoothly. We couldn’t do what we do without them!
