We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylar Stultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylar, how does your business help the community?
I am helping my community by providing nonalcoholic beverages for everyone who doesn’t drink alcohol.

I chose a life of no alcohol in August 2018. I quickly realized the lack of good quality, fresh, nonalcoholic drink choices. Most of the choices were soda, tea, and water. I was craving more than that. I wanted something fresh and balanced, not premixed and overly-sweet. After four years of waiting for someone to create what I was looking for, I decided to create it myself.

Herbal Mocktails is currently a mobile business. This gives me the flexibility to offer my mocktails to more people and places.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I decided to go to school back in 2013, I made up my mind that I wanted to get a degree in Horticulture and work in a nursery. I actually ended up switching my degree half-way through to Landscape Design, which is the degree I graduated with. While I was working in the greenhouse at school, my love of herbalism blossomed. From there, I moved out to Fort Collins, CO and continued my education in Holistic Health. I graduated a second time in 2019 and had a hard time finding a job that fit my education. So, I took a job as a bakery manager in town. Once the pandemic hit, I was laid off. I decided to take my stimulus check and buy a truckload of herbal supplies to open my own organic herbal apothecary called Mindful Holistics. I made natural remedies and sold them at markets around the area. The heat ended up being detrimental to my products when I was at markets, so I knew I needed to pivot.
I thought to myself, “what would I like to purchase at a market?” With my history of vending, I knew that consumables always are a hit at markets, and there was already a lot of bakery tents. That is when Herbal Mocktails was born. I quit drinkng alcohol four years prior, and I knew that there is nobody that makes nonalcoholic drinks that are fresh, delicious, and mobile. I enjoy sipping on a delicious drink (nonalcoholic) while I am shopping. Especially when it is hot. So, that is how I came up my business, I created what I personally wanted.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them out in nature. Fort Collins has a lot of really cool outdoor areas to visit that are not far from the city. I would also make a stop at Meow Wolf in Denver because it is amazing and unique. I would take them up the Poudre Canyon to see some amazing sights, and maybe stop in to Mishewaka for an appetizer, lunch, or maybe even a show! We would also eat at some of the amazing restaurants or food trucks in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not have my mocktail business if it wasn’t for my husband, Tyler. He is my biggest supporter and voice of reason. I tend to be impulsive and he is very practical. Without him, I would probably take on way more than I can handle, which would lead to burnout pretty quickly.
