We had the good fortune of connecting with Auriel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Auriel, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Doulas are NOT just for rich people or just for people planning to give birth at home.
I think people have it in their heads that doulas only provide support for certain birth experiences and that you have to break the bank in order to afford that support when in reality, ALL birth plans should include having a birth and postpartum doula! Almost every doula will offer low cost, volunteer, or sliding scale payment options if you just ask them. Good doulas usually become doulas because they genuinely believe that everyone deserves to have compassionate, nurturing care during such a life changing experience. Oftentimes, people are left to fend for themselves and get lost in a system that prioritizes money over wellbeing and doulas are here to change that!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As a holistic full spectrum doula and master psychic healer, I offer a unique experience to people who are currently pregnant, trying to conceive, or just want to create a better relationship with their womb space.
There is so much mystery to unlock in the world of the womb and most of the time people are left with minimal answers and not much guidance. The experiences we have throughout our lives can make a lasting energetic imprint in our wombs that can crop up as physical symptoms like PCOS, irregular menses, pain with sex, and more. I help people transmute these energies with various techniques including Reiki, Hypnosis, Neuro-linguistic programming, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Remote Viewing, and Psychic Mediumship so that they can find physical and emotional relief. I also help people communicate with their past, present, and future ancestors so that they can restore and heal those connections for generations to come. Clearing out the womb space of stagnant or unhelpful energies and making peace with any ancestral trauma is a wonderful step towards curating a healthy, vibrant relationship with your own body and life – especially if you plan to conceive children. For people who are looking to become pregnant or are already pregnant, I also offer professional doula services and education in support of fertility, birth, and postpartum experiences.
I am the only one in my field to do the unique work that I do in bridging the gap between the spiritual, mental, and physical aspects of reproductive wellness and childbirth. In high school, I always felt crazy for wanting to explore so many avenues and felt like I was being forced into a box when it came to picking a career but over time I’ve come to realize that all my curiosity has led me to being who and what I am now. When I first dove into the reproductive wellness space I felt like I was only ever allowed to call myself a doula and I was only ever allowed to do doula work in a very textbook sense but as I was gaining traction in this space, I realized that I couldn’t turn off my spiritual gifts and that the people who were coming to me for doula support were actually aligning with the spiritual work I was afraid to offer them. I could no longer hide behind the “just” title. I couldn’t be just a Reiki practitioner, or just a doula, or just a medium, or just a mindset coach. I had to blend it all together to be able to offer the unique support I wanted to provide to my community. No more hiding! Getting over the imposter syndrome and the fear of being seen was the biggest hurdle in creating a brand that really aligned with who I am and what I offer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think we would absolutely have to go on a hike through Ophir Creek to see the hidden waterfall and then visit Bishop’s castle around the corner. Afterwards, we would have to grab a chamoyada at Pueblo’s Ice Cream and hit the river to cool off! I would also take them to the SunWater spa in Manitou Springs for the best massage and hot tub experience to wrap up their trip.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to the many educators, midwives, and fellow doulas that have shared their wisdom and passion for reproductive wellness with me over the years. I would not be where I am without the community of birth keepers around the world who have shown up to foster connection in this field.

And I especially have to thank my partner for always supporting my crazy on call schedule and going above and beyond to take care of our family while I’m caring for others. I quite literally couldn’t do this work without his support.
