We had the good fortune of connecting with Flex Beau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Flex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I think back I truly was thinking what am I going to do I need money ; i was at a really dark space in my life every job I had that year I was fired from it was at peak of my legal troubles that put very large pause on everything , I had to make a decision stay low and fight my chargers because I was in sticky situation that i wasn’t sure how go get out off or stop crying and figure out which talent is going to help me make it that’s when I created flex collection mixture of hair services and makeup.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very different from other makeup artist in boston aside from my casper identity; I am hard driven I wouldn’t have been able to have 100k year in 2022 if wasn’t for my stern work ethic, I am always a student in the beauty world I thrived to learn and still learn everything about art and makeup to effectively pair the two hand by hand. It was not easy I live in boston mass some may consider us small but I primarily live in Dorchester and we all know each other some of us same profession but we all have different work ethic; fitting into the beauty world was the opposite of what I wanted I wanted to be different stand out I only wanted people to see my clients my work my art not myself not my body type, what I wore if I wore designer only my clients my beautiful clients the art on the canvass and the lesson’s i learned along the way have certainly mold me into the beauty mogul I am today it so important to be humble, kind you truly never know when tables will turn and which side you will be on but if you’re kind , driven hard worker determined it won’t matter how many times the tables turn you will always be on top. I want the world to know about my brand because it’s unique I went from an everyday mua in my living room to building a full 6 figure empire from FlexeryBeauty to Flexedcosmetics the world needs to understand black women are making a mark for innovative future in beauty and I am one of many .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is it free ? Just kidding We would eat everything our eyes can take !!! Strawberry mocktails scream lover girl it’s your world I would have to take us to Disney world ; I am Such a big kid at heart but going to Disney as adult is epic with your BFF then we would get on our pink jet to have tacos in mexico top it off with beach dinner talking about our dreams and boy crushes from our childhood who are totally #icky now . Hahaha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be here without my flexers (my clients) my team literally all my friends , my honey , my parents have a staple in my career the upcoming success. No one physically is aware of what i look like very mysterious phantom gourmet of makeup esthetic so my clients are really the face of the brand I couldn’t thank them enough for always reposting me , shout-out, referring me I truly have a amazing support system from since I started small that grew , continuing growth and exposure all to my flexas..
