We had the good fortune of connecting with Cesar Aldaco Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cesar, what is the most important factor behind your success?
To some people success is a number, to others its stability, and maybe even securing a future. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, but that definition is vague, it doesn’t have to be a large accomplishment and it doesn’t have to mean becoming rich. My success is getting to do what I love, I’m passionate about it and I’m genuinely in love with what I do. I’m in the Pokémon business, and no it wasn’t because of Logan Paul or Logic, Pokémon has been my favorite show since I was 3 years old, I’ve watched every episode from Pikachu electrocuting Ash to Ash and Pikachu defeating Leon’s Charizard and truly becoming the very best like no one ever was. Playing the games all the way from the Nintendo 64 to the current Nintendo switch. Going to my first collect-a-con- last year and buying my first card and trading all day was the birth of something new. I started going to trade nights, buying cards, trading and selling so I thought to myself “why not make this into a business, spread the love of the hobby around and hopefully become a pillar of this already large community” That was the concept of NIMBUS, I remember sitting at Texas RoadHouse with my brothers Christian Quezada and Roger Cardona talking about this silly idea of making Pokémon into a business, but then that joke became a vision of what it could be. We talked about how we would layout our store and naming sections of the store after our theme which was clouds. That turned into us coming up with a name and drawing logos on used napkins. Talking about it put a huge smile on my face and I knew then that this was something worth pursuing, not to get rich, but because just talking about it brought me pure joy. So, the factor behind my success is that I’m not dependent on this, I do it because it genuinely makes me happy, putting the work into it makes me happy, creating posts and designing merchandise makes me happy, NIMBUS was made from this passion and hopefully someday I can be that person to give someone their first card and ignite a new passion in them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside from NIMBUS I work at a shelter that helps children from many different countries. Coming from Mexico I can relate to these children and understand their struggles of coming to a new country and feeling lost. I’m able to provide some level of comfort for them and give them the help I wish I had when we moved to the U.S. In some way my work and NIMBUS are about helping people and providing a space for them to develop and pursue their hobbies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In a perfect trip I would like them to experience Colorado and all her bi-polar weathered glory. From riding dune buggies in hot sand dunes down south, to taking a relaxing dip in Glennwood’s hot springs. then hitting the snowy slopes of Aspen and Winter Park. You also can’t visit Colorado without exploring Downtown Denver, walking down 16th street, visiting central park, catching a show in the arts district etc.! As far as food goes the #1 place we would eat would have to be Katsu Ramen down in Aurora, it’s my favorite ramen shop and they never disappoint!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first shout-out goes to my wife Alejandra Aldaco; She has supported me with this business every step of the way. We’re both nerds and opening packs and talking about anime has become a very important part of our marriage.

My other two shout-outs go to my brothers Christian Quezada and Roger Cardona. We were all there talking about the idea of this business, and we all played a part in creating it, NIMBUS wouldn’t be where it’s at right now if it wasn’t for them.
