Meet Kieffer & Shelby | Tall Outdoors Couple

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kieffer & Shelby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kieffer & Shelby, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We met and immediately connected on how many hobbies we had in common such as; fishing, hiking, paddleboarding, hunting, and being outdoors as much as possible. We also happened to be super tall, 6’10” and 6’2″, so we wanted to showcase our adventures as a tall, active, outdoorsy couple. Behind showcasing our lifestyle on our Instagram page “ReelTall Outdoors”, we wanted to start a brand for other tall outdoorsmen and women to connect with and rep during their outdoor adventures. Though tall is in the name, we are wanting to be inclusive of all outdoorsy individuals as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are both new to Colorado, having moved here early in 2023 for pursuit of a new outdoor playground to explore and new careers as well. Kieffer is newly a Senior Project Engineer with the Beck Group, having just spent 8 years in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Officer. Shelby is a Senior Data Analyst for HCA Healthcare and excited about the growth of value-based care in Colorado. We have both changed careers and have had to overcome the territories of new industries but have learned to trust the process and believe in God’s plan. ReelTall Outdoors is something we do on the side for fun but would love to grow the brand into an influencer account for other tall folks to admire, and eventually we would like to start an outdoors clothing brand for men and women.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would take them to Cheesman canyon to fly fish on the South Platte River to fish gold medal waters and hopefully help them land a beautiful rainbow trout or other trout species. After some fishing we would take them hiking throughout the canyon, or on another trail in the Rockies. After a great day of adventuring, we would take them to View House in downtown Littleton, CO to sit up on their rooftop bar and enjoy great food, live music, and views of the Rocky Mountains. Some of our other fun recommendations would be white water rafting with Liquid Descent out of Idaho Springs, CO, or paddleboard fishing at Pella Crossing Ponds in Longmont.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to shoutout our parents who gave us each individually the exposure to outdoor activities from a very young age. Without their successes and generosity, we would not be the outdoor enthusiasts that we are today. Thank you to Mark, Mary, Stephen, and Lesley!
