Meet Dr. Michelle Mras | Award-wining Global Keynote Speaker, Author, Exec. Communication Coach, Actress & Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Michelle Mras and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My speciality is seeing the potential within others. I can hear their story and craft it for maximum impact to be delivered from stage or in writing. I believe there is a song within everyone. What I’m most excited about is the release of my first music album.
I got where I am professionally by living as the best version of myself everyday. I approach each opportunity as a challenge to accept, not turn away from. Is it easy to step outside of my comfort zone on a consistent basis? Yes. Is it a challenge I am willing to accept? Yes!
I have experienced major life challenges in the past six years: Auto accident, loss of career, Traumatic brain injury, Unable to speak or walk for over two-years, Breast Cancer, nine major surgeries, facing death, reinvention of my life, shedding over 240 pounds from my body and becoming the best version of me… Unapologetically. None of this was easy, but I wouldn’t change anything I experienced. There is strength gained through the pain.
There are hundreds of lessons I have learned along my way. The biggest lesson is that resilience through adversity is a series of choices. I speak around the world on stages, podcasts, TV shows, write articles and have my stories in over 27 books worldwide just so I can share that everyone has the opportunity to live their best life by choosing to do what frightens you. Do whatever it is you want to do… afraid. The only reason you are afraid, is because you care about the outcome. So, do it afraid. Do it today.
My brand is about being the best version of you everyday and stop apologizing for what you haven’t accomplished. Live Unapologetically!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Garden of the Gods Park for Buffalo burgers then, Pikes Peak Cog Railway to Pikes Peak for donuts at the peak. Day 2: Manitou Springs for shopping, taste the spring waters and walk across the Royal Gorge bridge with a train ride afterward.
Day 3: Painted Mines hike is beautiful and serene. Visit the Buzzed Crow Bistro in Colorado Springs for ribs or street tacos.
Day 4: Great Sand Dunes is too stunning to not experience.
Day 5: Westcliffe, Colorado is a dark skies community where my guests can experience a full sky of stars uninhibited by light pollution, taste baked goods from an Amish bakery and witness wildlife in their natural state: Big Horn Sheep, Elk, Bison, Deer, Mountain lions, Eagles and meet real cowboys walking down the street. Be sure to enjoy a meal at the Silver Cliff Mountain Inn and Restaurant (aka Willie’s)
Day 6: Florissant Fossil beds – history revealed from the rocks is simply awesome.
Day 7: Colorado Wolf and Wildlife refuge, Divide, Colorado to howl with the wolves and then dinner at Twin forks Tavern, Morrison, Colorado because the prime rib steaks are enormous and the best meal I have ever had. Late night trip to Blush&Blu on Colfax to sing karaoke at an amazing venue with a fun crowd and midnight donuts from Voodoo donuts next door.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to ShoutOut Dr. Paul Scheele of the Scheele Learning Institute. I attended his retreat in the early years of my brain injury. I used and continue to use his paraliminals to help remove limiting beliefs from my subconscious mind. I believe all the self work I did with him as my coach catapulted me to be the best version of myself.
Others who deserve a ShoutOut are:
1) Michael Mras, my husband, who remained by my side throughout my brain injury and my breast cancer journeys. He set up procedures around my daily life that allow me to be free from constant hand-holding. He is why I am confident in all I do, because he set up alerts to keep me punctual and stress free.
2) Harmonized Brain Centers, Colorado Springs – The center that performed neuro-feedback therapy on my brain. The therapy calmed my brain activity so I could reach REM sleep, and stopped my rage episodes.
3) Wounded Warrior Center, Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs – Helped retrain my brain so that both hemispheres would speak to each other again so I could walk and remain upright.
4) My children, Mia and Matt, who took care of me when I couldn’t care for myself and helped their dad with all that needed to happen to keep me safe.
5) The family and friends who stayed with me throughout my brain injury and breast cancer journeys. It would have been a sad journey without people to laugh with.
