We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie DiCenso and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Colorado. We (my family and I) traveled all over the state and other parts of the country. I always had a camera with me from a young age and artistic visions growing up as I was artistically minded. My background in science as an archeologist led me around the country and gave me opportunities to photograph all over. I have been working on my photography skills getting them down with my Nikon the last few years.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Still honing my skills. Trying to find the best platforms online to sell my photos. There are so many out there. I look at what other photographers are using and how easy the websites are to use. One platform wanted me to send them my photos and they would upload them. I was not ok with that as I like to be hands on at every level. I had a website built already, but the platform only allowed for your photos to be shopped for advertising. I want people to be able to buy my prints and get them in hand. I would rather individuals be able to enjoy my photos in their homes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Usually Garden of the Gods, but I hike trails there that you won’t find most tourists on. Nearby in Old Colorado City, I love eating at La Baguette as they have the best French Onion Soup.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Both of my parents Tony and Rose. For believing in my strength when they were told that I would die back in 2001. I was in a bad horseback riding accident in college. I used to lead trail rides through Garden of the Gods for work as a wrangler for Academy Riding Stables. The neurologist when my accident occurred said I would die because of my brain trauma. They were there though every day to help me when the hospital staff wouldn’t help me.
