We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristy, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“A business well-run is a force for good in this world” I am not sure where the quote comes from, but it resonates with me because we can all make a difference in some small way. T hose of us who run a business have an opportunity to use our business to further the golden rule. Give your customers an amazing experience, treat your employees like family and be kind to the earth and each other. We may not always feel that our government represents our values but we can express those values by giving back to our communities and helping others while still running a profitable business model. At Onus iV we have three core values: people, passion and purpose and we live by these daily.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Onus iV was founded in 2014 by myself, my husband Chaz and our partner Dr. Ben Wilks MD. Our passion for this business began when we heard of IV therapy becoming a thing in places like Vegas and NYC but realized that it didn’t yet exist in Colorado. Back then, everyone was talking about IVs as a hangover treatment. We took a different approach that made sense for how we wanted to live our lives and how we thought Coloradans might approach this. The Colorado mindset is a proactive one and we wanted IV therapy to take on a new, healthy application (not just helping people from a night of too much drinking). From the beginning we had a positive spin on helping athletes, busy moms, business travelers, and anyone looking to boost their performance and prevent illness and fatigue. Dehydration robs us of our potential and the benefits of IV therapy are immediate and long lasting. Our message resonated with this customer type and we quickly built a loyal following and membership base. What sets us apart is not only this wellness approach to IV therapy but our dedication to the customer experience. The reason we only hire ER personnel is their ability to do a painless IV stick (doing 20-30 a day sometimes in the emergency room) and experience in handling unforeseen health issues. Our customer base is very healthy and rarely do we turn someone away but having a knowledgeable employee is critical in those rare circumstances. Also, the painless stick means our customers have a great experience from start to finish. We also pride ourselves in creating an efficient customer experience. We are the only IV clinic in Colorado to use a “rock climbers” rope system to raise and lower our IV bags. This patented BOSS system allows us to use gravity to make the IV drip more quickly when appropriate and thus ensuring that a client in a hurry can get in and out quickly and get on with their day. One of the things we are most excited about is the development of new and innovative therapies. We recently became one of the few IV bars in Colorado to offer NAD+ therapy. Touted as the “miracle molecule” by such luminaries as Dr. David Sinclair, a Harvard-based researcher, NAD+ is a hot topic in medical circles for it’s energy boosting properties, ability to repair DNA and potential to slow the aging process. We continue to innovate our offerings and keep up with the latest findings in scientific and wellness circles and that excites us and drives our passion for what we do every day!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is experiencing a surge in population growth in recent years and the experiences you can have in the city are burgeoning as well! My favorite area to take out of towners to is the RiNoart district. What was formerly a gritty industrial warehouse neighborhood now has an exploding art, restaurant and bar scene. The recent graffiti art festival was a great excuse to hop on bicycles and spend some time in RiNo. A few stops to make would include Finn’s Manor for some NoLa style atmosphere, part voodoo lounge part outdoor food truck scene with unique cocktail offerings. Another great place for crafted cocktails is Death and Co. located in the Ramble hotel. For a meal, you can’t go wrong with Uchi for a premium sushi experience. I lived in NYC for several years and the innovation coming out of their sushi kitchen reminds me of the early years of Nobu in Manhattan.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my staff! Emergency room nurses and paramedics might be the most selfless and unsung heroes of our time. Doctors get a lot of the glory in the medical world because of hierarchy. But it is the nurse or paramedic who is really there for the patient. Our staff at Onus iV is comprised of all emergency personnel and the trauma they experience on the job and often share with me is unspeakable. They come into Onus with cheerful attitudes and a willingness to engage with our clientele despite often having just seen the dark side of humanity at their emergency job. These people amaze me on a daily basis and I am a better person for knowing them.
