We had the good fortune of connecting with Kory Potts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kory, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I would say that my background in the east coast has helped mold me into the creative I am today. I’m from Connecticut and when I was younger It took me awhile to find a group of people to click until I started skateboarding. After I started skateboarding it opened my eyes to the world of design. I started to see all the cool shirts and graphics that the companies used, after was instantly hooked. I started asking my mom for all these crazy brands and shoes. She did her best and got them for me this started to build my style and love of design

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my journey in the design industry seven years ago. I created a clothing brand during my first year of college. This quickly sparked my passion for design! I have always been involved behind the scenes working close with creative friends. At first it was not easy to figure out which direction I wanted to take. I had a few rough years before my brand but did not let it cloud my vision. I spent some time In New York summer 2016 which guided me into streetwear, and I became intrigued with the world. This gave me the drive to start Upraised Clothing which turned me into the creative I am today. I am now a agency owner, and clothing designer located in Denver, CO. I specialize in Graphic design, Motion graphics, 2D animation, and 3D animation. I have worked with major companies and also still run a brands of my own! I would like to say there is never the “right time” to make your idea come to life, so start now and see where it takes you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you want a break down of my spots in the city this how we would do it! We can start the day at a art museum (Denver MCA) is one of my favorites. After that we can make our way down the the rino area and see what the creative scene is looking like for the day. Grab a coffee and take out the laptops. Once we get some inspiration we draw outside for a bit, and grab pizza at Denver Market. I would say that is my ideal day. I know everyone is different so a few honorable mentions would be Rocky Mountains, Meow wolf, Rockies Game, Golden Skatepark, and Piggin Out Smoke House. Also If you ever see me at any of these places feel free to say what’s up!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Great question! I would like to first shoutout my mom for always supporting me on what I decide to do! Next I would shoutout my close friend group and family who gives me the motivation to keep going even on the rough days. My cousin Javier who helped me start my first company and still working with me this day. I would like thank everyone I met on my journey who supported my clothing brand and agency. I also cant forget Alex and Jake for connecting me with Shoutout Colorado to tell my story!
