We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Swail and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Culture. We try to incorporate our culture and our values into every decision we make in our business. From deciding what brands to work with, to what people to hire. This focus keeps us all aligned at a high level with the mission of our company, and in the day-to-day decisions we stay aligned with the experience that our customers and patients expect.
What should our readers know about your business?
My grandfather passed away from diabetes. My father passed away from dementia. I saw first hand how these terrible diseases affect that final decade of life. These, and other chronic diseases, are taking over our country. Our conventional medical system does not have an answer.
As a healthcare company focused on human optimization, our mission is to support people in using their God-given talents to live a life of purpose. We do this through elevating human health – educating and empowering individuals with the resources to extend both lifespan and healthspan.
There is a massive paradigm shift happening in the world today with regards to healthcare. Patients are demanding more – they understand now more than ever the need to take a preventative approach to their own health. They understand the need to take control – to be more than a passive spectator in the doctor’s office. We are excited to be positioned in the middle of this shift, with the ability to support thousands of people in their journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A favorite itinerary of mine in Boulder includes:
Start the date with an espresso at one of the many awesome coffee shops in Boulder – Alpine Modern, Wonder and Beleza are some of my favorites. Head to the Sanitas Trail for a hike and some climbing – great options for all levels. After a hard hike, stop in at Alive and Well for an IV or vitamin shot to refuel. Lunch includes a healthy burger from Wild Pastures or wrap from Just Be Kitchen (don’t skip the brownies).
Another fun day time activity is hanging out in the Chautaugua Park. Throw frisbee on the lawn, take the kids to the playground, or grab some snacks at the general store and hike up the trails. Also don’t miss lunch or dinner at the Dining Hall and consider grabbing a show in the Auditorium.
On the weekends, hit the farmers market – a great way to grab some quality food and take in the local culture. Pearl Street has something for everyone – diverse shopping, great restaurants, and sidewalk performers. Gelato Boy is a must for a treat. At night, take in a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater. – it’s a vortex!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Elizabeth is my rock and inspiration. She is the person I turn to for a brainstorming session and for advice in areas of life and business that are not my strong suit. She complements me well, bringing a different level of creativity and fervor to important decisions. She is an amazing mother, wife and business partner, all in one beautiful package.
Elizabeth has experienced a number of hardships and health challenges in life. It is through these trials that she has developed perseverance and character. Her life is a continual source of inspiration and hope for me and for so many.
