We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started investing in real estate, I didn’t really know what I was doing — it just felt like something critical that I needed to do right then and there. I can’t even remember how I found my first real estate agent. The first house I bought, I lived in it while I rehabbed it (mostly myself). When I sold it four years later, I used the profits to purchase two other investments: one house hack (a duplex in Denver that I lived in and also rented out rooms) and a short-term rental (STR) outside of Disney World that I rent on AirBnb. When I bought my first Airbnb, I didn’t know how I was going to get it up and running from two-thousand miles away — I just knew that if I bought it, I’d figure it out. Today it’s thriving, but I learned every single lesson the hard way. At this point in my career, my portfolio includes two STRs and a long-term rental, and a mountain home I live in with my partner outside of Denver. Over the course of doing all these real estate deals, I really struggled to find the right agent who understood small-time investing and could help guide me as I built my portfolio little by little. So I left a six-figure job producing media to get my real estate license so that I could be the type of agent I needed for other people like me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are so many unique ways to build wealth through real estate investing. The investors I work with aren’t faceless men in suits and deep pockets. They’re people like me and you who want their hard-earned money to work a little harder for them. It’s my job to study the market and understand where there are opportunities for people to make their money go a little farther and work a little harder. Like right now, for example, mid-term rentals are out-performing other strategies for cash-flowing in what’s been a really tough market. Not only do I stay up on market trends and unique opportunities for my clients, I make sure I know what zip codes make sense for people when it comes to appreciation and regulations that could affect them down the line. Most real estate agents don’t make it their business to understand the money-making potential of every possible deal, but I do. And whether or not they want to house hack, run an AirBnB, or flip their first house, I help my clients execute on their vision.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love taking visiting family to downtown Golden for a little walking, eating — and on a good day — tubing down Clear Creek. There’s also some great shopping and dining in Evergreen, like Creekside Cellars, Revival Brews, and Colorado Creamery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My real estate career really started when I was an editor for BiggerPockets, a website and real estate resource that teaches investing strategies. I learned so much during my tenure there that paved the way for me to start growing my own portfolio and eventually led me to becoming an investor-friendly agent — so that DIYers like me would have access to the type of agent I was always searching for.
