We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Besides my skills and passion for hairdressing, the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand has been a commitment to giving back to the community. Early on, I recognized the value of building meaningful relationships, not only by working with three major sports teams, which helped elevate my brand, but also by donating my time and expertise to local causes. This focus on community engagement has been instrumental in growing my business. As an entrepreneur in the salon industry, it’s been about creating a brand that’s not just about services, but about connection and contribution. I believe that by supporting the community, we’re able to build trust, loyalty, and long-term success.”

This approach showcases both your entrepreneurial mindset and your values of community involvement, which are key to creating a brand that resonates with people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is taking someone from coming into the salon feeling, maybe not so great, and by the time they leave all that fades away. My son once said to me, mom you can see the difference when they walk out the door, they are walking on air with a smile on their face. I am most proud of all the opportunities I have had in my profession. I have done hair at the Playboy Mansion meeting amazing stars. Covers of magazines, Movies, TV commercials, all the dance teams, Owned multiple salons, been on stage educating with some of the best stylists in the world, and helped stylists become six-figure income stylists, to live their dreams !!! I believe I got to where I am today because I have never worked a day in my life. I have been in this industry for 38 years, and will continue to for as long as the good lords allows.

Was it easy? No, I have worked for free, 12 hour days, long hair shows, crabby people. That is ok, when you are a light, you must not let anyone dim you !! We set an example for all. All of this lead to the lessons that dedication and perseverance gets you to the place of peace that keeps that light lite.

I think it is important to leave, not just an impression, but an IMPRINT! When my mother passed away, I asked her to let me know she was there by me. I started seeing hearts everywhere and sharing it on social media with everyone. Now everyone is sharing the hearts that they are seeing. I am writing a book because of it. That is the Brand I now share !! we have to be good to people. That is the message. I appreciate this opportunity you have given me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is such a great question. I am from Wisconsin originally. I moved here in 1996, the downtown was really just getting started. The airport was new, Coors field was built. I actually was doing the hair of Linda Alvarado, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alvarado Construction. She was also the first Latino owner of a Major Baseball Team, the Rockies. It was quite the opportunity. I would take them to a Rockies game, with the beautiful views of our mountains, and sunsets during the games. I would then explore all that the Arts District has to offer with a Friday night Art walk of our local artists . Jax is a definite stop for seafood in our amazing downtown. Another night would be Root Down, all farm to table. The salon that I worked at for awhile was right next door to the original location that use to be a gas station, way back in the day. I have some clients who provide home grown vegetables to the restaurant. I like to support The arts also, and have many friends that work at the DPCA, so a show is a must ! Jazz night is very important, so an evening at Dazzle is on the list ! My oldest son had the opportunity to perform there with his High School Jazz band. I will never forget that ! If this is happening in the summer, then we will bring some wine, a blanket, and snacks for Jazz in the Park. We have the most amazing local artists perform.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I love this! I have two people that have inspired and have lived by example. The first is Matt VanSistine, who supported my dream to start Denver’s First Fashion Weekend of F.A.M.E. (Fashion, Arts, Music, Entertainment. Matt is an Philanthropist. He not only has his own company, but is on the Board of the Ballpark District to make downtown a better place for all to come to. My salon was in his loft, and we were able to support all the dance teams that I sponsored over 14 years with parties, photos shoots, calendar release parties and so much more.

The second is my son Nolin Boyd. I believe we must lead by example… My son has followed in the footsteps with his company at the age of 24, Muko Maker Creations. He has done the graphics for artists performing in Coachella, Nike, Sony, huge artists with their music videos, in 3D AI animations, all over the world. He is on his third trip to Tokyo creating and designing his future.
