We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Bauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’d never seen any other walk of life as desirable or a good fit for my energetic personality. The pursuit of creativity is instilled in every thing I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a whimsical and more emotional portrayal of the outdoors that surround western Colorado and the life that fills these areas. Using both traditional and nontraditional techniques as well as reclaimed material and much up-cycling, the art is an iconic portrayal of the outdoor world. The time between degree and profession might’ve been circuitous and trying, yet these hard learned lessons mean the most. The mantra of SLOW-SMOOTH-FAST-FUN has infinite applications in every aspect of life. My brand helps provide the best moments of joy and appreciation of the world we inhabit and the lives we get to lead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on seasons We’d try to get a few bike rides or hikes in, or skiing of course. If they are game, we’d also do some art, maybe plain air painting or ornament creation. As for foods, I’m a pretty decent cook I’d provide lots of goods, but we’d also hit up The Breadery, the Eldo, Butte Bagels, and bar above for good eats, the talk of the town for suds, and the Dogwood or Montanyas for cocktails. A gallery walk is also a great time on the main drag.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My girlfriend/partner, Sarah Schmidt, she’s been a revelation in my life. Steadfast, smart, creative, funny and all sorts of lovely, she’s made my life beautifully expansive and simple. She’d been a inspiration, critic and a advisor of immeasurable quality.
