We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, how does your business help the community?
My practices as a certified life/health coach and a mindfulness meditation facilitator go hand in hand. All 3 are based around overall well-being. In both our local communities and even expanding into communities throughout the world, there are millions of individuals who suffer from mental illnesses, stress, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, low self esteem, inability to create balance, and much more.

As a coach and facilitator, it is my responsibility to assess each person as no two people are the same. Once I’ve reviewed their intake form and have had an opportunity to speak with them in an initial consultation, I am able to put together a course of action and next steps. The first step is admitting you need help. That seems to be the hardest for most individuals. We don’t want to be labeled.

I not only base my practices on education and the certifications I have received; I also base them on personal experiences. I believe that my having walked in their shoes and being able to relate to them allows them to open up to the fullest extent and feel comfortable in sharing rather than feeling like they might be judged. It is extremely important to meet individuals where they are at and assure them they are in a safe environment.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my business is Dawns Conscious Living & Lifestyle Coaching. I also lead weekly group mindfulness meditation sessions through my full time job which adds an extra layer. I believe what sets me apart from others is my practices came into fruition when I finally realized what my life purpose was and that is helping others. I truly believe I was put on earth to help individuals create balance; in particular work/life. Individuals do not have a full understanding of how important it is to have balance in their lives. Too much of one or the other will cause unnecessary stress which can lead to serious health issues.

I’m very proud that I can offer guidance to individuals in need. That is something I did not have while life was lifeing. The tools I have in place have been very effective with my clients and have afforded me the opportunity to successfully get them to the breakthrough they’ve been waiting on.

One of the challenges I faced was advertising. It was a little difficult trying to reach the audiences without the proper marketing skills. The way I overcame that was by participating in webinars that focused on targeting audiences.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are not everyone is ready to fully open up and that some individuals need time to determine whether or not they can trust you with their stories/secrets. I also learned that there is no “cookie cutter” method when it comes to coaching.

I want the world to know that I am a survivor and that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. I am a thriving woman who came from a background of being in domestic violence situations to having low self esteem to battling an anxiety disorder to raising 3 kids on my own. I’ve also struggled with weight issues. If I can overcome all of the obstacles that life has thrown at me, they can to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I moved to Colorado back in October of 2021, I knew it was beautiful but had no idea just how much there was to do outdoors.

I quickly discovered a love for the hot springs. If my best friend were to come and visit me, we would definitely make a trip to Glenwood Hot Springs and spend at least 2 days there. I would also want her to experience Red Rock and maybe catch an outdoor concert. Another favorite spot of mine is Estes Park. We would definitely ride out there and walk the streets in town and maybe even take a tour of the Stanley Hotel. I’ve always wanted to do the night tour.

There are a few places to eat in the Lakewood area that have outside seating. We both ride motorcycles so we would definitely hit up Dirty Dog’s and maybe a few other biker friendly establishments.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ll never forget one of my co-workers from many years ago. I was very young at the time and really didn’t take my job seriously. She sat me down one day and asked me what were my future goals. I could not answer her at that time. She then proceeded to tell me that she saw great potential in me and could see me doing great things. She wanted me to recognize my worth and what I could contribute to society. That one conversation stuck with me all these years as here was someone who believed in me. It changed my way of thinking and made me strive to be a better person as a whole.
