We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Sass and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My first words were a song lyric, i loved disco music as a child, and my father had saved many instruments. I was always very good at music and very motivated. It only makes sense i pursue a career in music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t know how’d i would personally describe my art besides it being what I make. What sets me apart from others is maybe just my way of thinking and motivation. I’m very motivated by spite or atleast some big goal. I don’t try specifically to make things that are abnormal or different but when i make things they tend to have those qualities. How did i get where i am. Lots of practice and discipline. I wouldn’t say it was easy. What made the musician i am isn’t only how much i practiced but also what i went through to, both, cause me to practice and write what i write. I overcame the challenges by continuing to exist, other than that i don’t know. These words would not hit this text box if i had not overcome my challenges. The only lesson i learned is to be cunning and full of tricks. I would like the world to know that i will die standing before i live kneeling, my story works better in quick bursts, and vote me president.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To eat i’d bring them to my apartment because i like to cook for people. Drink? the spring water fountains in manitou. To visit, the alleyways and the unguarded hotels. Hang out; what’s left records, Shutter & strum, vultures. . My favorite parts of this area are the places that don’t require money. The rivers, the mountains, and the many alleys. There’s always something to do when one is not ensnared by the facade of consumer entertainment. Chaos, mischief, and tomfoolery are hidden in this town; especially in the venues. Never will i suggest consumption. I revel in boredom and imagination.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The colorado springs conservatory. Great music school. They helped me no matter my financial state they found some way to teach me. They are a true non profit and i have an unbelievable amount of love for them. Also shoutout to Shutter and strum and the manitou springs episcopal church.
