We had the good fortune of connecting with Josie.Ane Sakura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josie.Ane, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right” – Henry Ford

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art, for me, is more than just creating beautiful pieces—it’s about connection, emotion, and bringing a sense of peace into people’s homes. I specialize in alcohol ink and acrylic paintings, often inspired by nature and movement. My work carries an organic flow, much like water, which reflects both my background in artistic swimming and my love for fluidity and expression. I also infuse Reiki energy into each piece, making them not just visually captivating but energetically meaningful.

What sets my art apart is its intuitive and heart-led approach. I want people to feel something when they look at my paintings—whether it’s a sense of calm, inspiration, or a deeper connection to nature. I’m particularly proud of the artistic community I’ve built and the art and wellness experiences I offer, where creativity meets mindfulness.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like many artists, I faced self-doubt, relocation challenges, and the pressure of balancing business with creativity. But I’ve learned that perseverance, adaptability, and authenticity matter more than perfection. I overcame challenges by embracing my unique artistic voice, building connections with like-minded people, and staying committed to my vision.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that art isn’t just about technique—it’s about telling a story and making an impact. Through Hearts Your Life, I want to inspire others to reconnect with their inner creativity, find joy in artistic expression, and bring more heart into their lives.

That’s my story, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, great food, and a taste of the best Colorado has to offer!

We’d kick things off with the Manitou Incline—an intense but rewarding challenge with breathtaking views. After conquering the climb, we’d refuel at a new local restaurant because I love trying new things and supporting small businesses.

Next, we’d visit Aurathentic, a beautiful and uplifting shop filled with positive energy, unique finds, and a great vibe. Of course, no trip to Colorado Springs is complete without a stop at Garden of the Gods—the views, the rock formations, and the energy there are simply magical.

One of my favorite spots to grab coffee and relax is Good Neighbors Meeting House—the coffee, food, and ambiance are amazing, and it’s the perfect place to sit back and soak in the local charm.

For a unique and fun experience, we’d spend a day at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo—one of the best zoos in the country, nestled on a mountainside with incredible views and up-close animal encounters. Feeding the giraffes is a must!

There’d be plenty of hiking adventures throughout the week, exploring different trails and hidden gems. And for an extra special experience, we’d take a road trip to the Great Sand Dunes—there’s nothing quite like seeing those massive dunes against the backdrop of the mountains. It’s the perfect mix of fun, awe, and connection with nature.

By the end of the week, my friend would leave with sore legs, a happy heart, and memories of an unforgettable adventure in Colorado!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to two incredible people who played pivotal roles in my journey. My dad sparked my love for creativity in a unique way—through artistic swimming. He introduced me to the joy of movement, expression, and artistry, setting the foundation for my passion. Over time, that spark faded, but my husband reignited it, reminding me of the beauty and fulfillment that creativity brings. His support helped me embrace my artistic path once again, and for that, I’m deeply grateful.
