Meet Maria Randolph | High School Seniors and Dance Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, what matters most to you?
At the heart of my business lies an unwavering commitment to ensuring every customer feels truly seen, heard, and valued. This principle isn’t just a business strategy; it’s the cornerstone of how I operate because I deeply believe in the power of genuine connection. From the initial consultation, where I prioritize understanding individual needs, to meticulously explaining the entire process beforehand, and extending heartfelt appreciation throughout our engagement and beyond, my focus is on fostering a relationship built on respect and trust. Staying connected with my clients isn’t an obligation, but a sincere desire to nurture these valuable connections and consistently provide them with the best possible experience.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion lies in the profound connection between movement and emotion, a sentiment deeply rooted in my lifelong love of music and amplified by the joy of watching my daughter dance. Capturing the beauty of dancers in motion, particularly senior dancers on the cusp of their next chapter, is a truly exhilarating experience. What sets my work apart is not just the photographs themselves, but the entire experience I curate. My Style Closet, brimming with exquisite gowns, flowing silks, and vibrant skirts, is a testament to my belief that every client deserves to feel extraordinary, a feeling perhaps stemming from a childhood in Poland in the late 70s where such abundance was rare. Sharing these beautiful pieces and witnessing the transformation in my clients is incredibly fulfilling. The journey to this point hasn’t been without its hurdles, requiring perseverance and a constant dedication to honing my craft. Yet, each challenge has taught me valuable lessons about resilience and the importance of creating meaningful connections. Ultimately, I want the world to know that my brand is built on a foundation of artistry, empathy, and a genuine desire to empower individuals, especially women, through the transformative power of photography.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh gosh, are you in for a treat if you’re planning a visit to Colorado Springs! If my best friend were in town for a week, I’d craft an itinerary brimming with the area’s most captivating gems. We’d kick things off with invigorating hikes through the breathtaking North Cheyenne Cañon Park, where miles of trails wind through stunning forests, alongside babbling streams, and past cascading waterfalls – the perfect immersion into Colorado’s natural beauty. Garden of the Gods Park is an absolute must-see, with its iconic red rock formations creating a landscape unlike any other, and a stop at the historic Glen Eyrie Castle would offer a glimpse into the region’s fascinating past. A visit to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is non-negotiable; where else can you soak in incredible panoramic views while hand-feeding majestic giraffes? A short but scenic drive up Pikes Peak would be essential, offering unparalleled vistas from the summit. For a touch of grandeur, lunch at the iconic Broadmoor Hotel is a must. Evenings would be spent exploring the vibrant downtown scene, with delectable dining options like the cozy Homa Cafe at Kinship Landing, the fresh flavors of Ola Juice Bar, the local charm of Garden of the Gods Market & Cafe, and the irresistible treats at Dad’s Donuts. And to cap off the perfect day? The lively and entertaining atmosphere of Louie Louie’s Dueling Piano Bar, of course! This week would be a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences, showcasing the very best of what makes Colorado Springs so special.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My journey as an award-winning photographer with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) would not have been possible without the unwavering support and inspiration of several key individuals and organizations. First and foremost, I extend my deepest gratitude to my husband, Gregg, who has championed my passion for photography from its inception. My daughter, Michasia, serves as a constant source of inspiration, pushing me to grow as a parent, an individual, and an artist. Within the professional realm, I am immensely thankful for the invaluable guidance and camaraderie found within the Professional Photographers Guild of Colorado Springs (PPGCS) and the Professional Photographers of Colorado (PPC); these organizations have been instrumental in my development. Finally, I would like to acknowledge the numerous mentors who have generously shared their expertise and friendship, including Jessica Vallia, Kory Bumgardner, Richard Sturdevant, and Shannon Squires, along with countless others within the PPA and both guilds whose contributions I deeply appreciate, ultimately leading to my Master of Photography degree from the esteemed Professional Photographers of America.
