Meet John S. Miller | Product and Lifestyle Photographer for Brands and Talent

We had the good fortune of connecting with John S. Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John S., can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, to a Thai mother and an American father. We moved to the U.S. when I was very young, and I watched both of my parents work tirelessly to build a life for our family. My father was a computer engineer at a large company, but his true passion was music. My mother, an exceptionally skilled cook, put herself through cosmetology school while learning English and adapting to American culture.
Growing up in that environment gave me a broad and unique perspective on vocation. I came to see work not just as a means of survival, but as a space for creativity, opportunity, and responsibility.
After high school, I was drawn to the path of an independent music producer. Following college, I joined a young church as the music and arts director, eventually becoming the worship pastor. Along the way, I also explored graphic design, early web development, and photography.
Approaching life and work through an entrepreneurial lens has always felt more natural to me than following a traditional path. When my first daughter was born with special needs, having a flexible schedule became more than a perk—it became a necessity. Over the years, this approach has allowed me to grow, to care for my family, and to thrive.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I view my art as a tool. Most of the time, it’s a tool for commerce—a means to generate conversions and sales—and I genuinely love that. There’s something deeply satisfying about creating work that brings real value to people and helps businesses thrive.
At other times, art becomes a tool for reflection, commemoration, or celebration. Those moments are powerful, and I consider it a privilege to be part of them. Whether practical or emotional in nature, I’m proud of my work because of the relationships it has created. The deliverables are just the outcome—the human connection behind them is what matters most to me.
It hasn’t always been easy, or particularly hard, but it has always been a labor of love.
Crafting an image—whether visual, musical, or experiential—requires both technical problem-solving and creative vision. I enjoy both. I love tackling technical challenges, but even more, I love seeing clients smile when the image hits just right. I’m proud of the brands and individuals I’ve worked with over the years—not just for the final products we’ve created, but for the lasting relationships those collaborations have built.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that community can beat creativity, and creativity can overcome obstacles. I believe deeply in the power of collaboration—pooling our collective talents and energy to create something meaningful. That’s where the real value lies: in the shared human experience.
And yes, I also love creating work that converts—measurable success is exciting. But what means the most to me is knowing that the people I work with are succeeding because of our partnership. That, to me, is art doing its job.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a great friend came to town, I’d want to show them not just the highlights, but the soul of the Denver area—the places we actually go, the food we really love, and the people and rhythms that make this place feel like home. And if we have time to head to the mountains? Even better. Colorado is as good as anywhere in the world.
We keep things pretty grounded and close to home these days, but here’s how I’d map out a solid visit:
Food Stops (can’t miss)
We’d kick off with local gems like the newly opened Riot BBQ by Patrick Klaiber and Manny Barella—bold, fresh, and full of energy. Then hit up standbys like The Post Chicken & Beer for comfort food done right, or TK’s Surf and Turf for something indulgent.
Craving global flavor? We’d stop by Jerusalem Restaurant—a Denver classic—or share small plates and wine at Barcelona Wine Bar. For something a little elevated, Uchi always delivers.
Drinks & Vibes
Whether we’re looking for a low-key local vibe or something with a little more buzz:
Living the Dream in Highlands Ranch is a great local brewery and our “Cheers” neighborhood bar right by the studio.
Englewood Grand is a hidden gem with character and great on the way up to town or the last stop on the way home.
Terminal Bar at Union Station and Pony Up downtown give off that quintessential Denver energy.
Snowpack Taproom and Table Public House are go-tos for more relaxed hangs.
Outdoor Hangouts: Disc Golf Tour
We’d spend a day hitting up a few of my favorite disc golf spots:
Beaver Ranch DGC (scenic and challenging)
Bird’s Nest DGC (laid-back and open, but still will give you a run for your throws)
Johnny Roberts (right in town, perfect for a quick round). We’d wrap with a visit to Another Round Disc Golf—grab a disc, a drink, and swap stories.
Live Music
Denver’s music scene is vibrant and varied. We’d check out a show at one of the city’s classic venues—The Fillmore, Ogden, Bluebird, or Marquis Theater.
If the right act is in town, Mission Ballroom or Cervantes make for great nights.
Mountains (Always Worth It)
If we have even a day or two, we’d head up to Breckenridge or Vail. Honestly, just being there is enough. Whether we’re walking through the villages, grabbing food or drink, throwing a round of disc, or finding a trail, there’s a kind of peace and beauty in those places that’s hard to describe—but easy to feel.
This kind of week wouldn’t be packed with tourist checkboxes. It’d be real, rooted, and full of good food, good music, the outdoors, and the people and places that give Colorado its charm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
