We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine (Cat) Ebeling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catherine (Cat), we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business after receiving my BSN and working in health care. I had been brought up to believe that nature and natural remedies were far better than medications, so working in a traditional health care setting with my healthy dietary knowledge, lifestyle and supplement background clashed with our conventional sick care system. We saw the same patients over and over again, and they got sicker and needed more medications every time they were admitted to the hospital. There was no information or educational training on how to eat healthy, real food, exercise and follow good lifestyle practices. Instead patients were taught be passive and rely on the ‘system’ of medications, and doctor visits.
I left healthcare to get into preventative medicine and to educate and empower others to manage their health naturally and to find the root causes of their health issues–not to rely on medications and our conventional money-making health care system.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the primary content creator for one of the largest health/wellness entities online, The Nutrition Watchdog. After leaving my professional, clinical nursing career, I was searching for something better. Something that would allow me to express my knowledge and education of natural health practices to empower others to take better care of themselves. After some intense soul searching, meditation and prayer, I heard about a man named Mike Geary who was one of the first and biggest pioneers in the internet marketing space–with one of the largest email lists out there. I was given his contact information and found out he followed some of my free lance writing articles. He asked me if I would like to write a book called “The Fat Burning Kitchen”. He said he would split the profits with me and sell it to his huge mulit million people list.
It was magic. The book took off and ended up being translated in 5 different languages and sold worldwide. We have since collaborated on several other books, most recently “The Diabetes Fix”. I also create content and articles for his large email list. On my own, I offer health coaching and a new program called “The PowerShift” program that offers concierge style options for natural hormone therapy for perimenopause and menopausal women, supplements and labwork, as well as reverals to trusted Telehealth medicine for BHRT and weight loss. I am really excited about this new program. Women and men will have all the tools they need for a long healthy life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live up in the mountains in Nederland CO. There is amazing hiking all around with incredible views of the mountains. I’d say we’d first settle in up here, do some hiking or mountain biking on the nearby trails, then head into my cute little mountain town for a burger and a glass of wine at Ned General Store. Then we’d fall asleep at my house, listening to the wind in the pines. Of course you can’t miss a day in Boulder CO, checking out all the cool stuff. The drive down the canyon is incredible on its own with the sheer beauty of the rock walls, the pine trees and the crashing whitewater sounds of Boulder Creek rumbling next to the road. Boulder has so many things to see and do and they embrace the different and the creative. Of course you have to have stroll down Pearl street and enjoy the many shops, cafes, and outdoor restaurants. A short but scenic hike nearby is in order–either up the Viewpoint trail near Flagstaff or on the Anemone trail in Sanitas. Both are amazing, challenging and have beautiful views. All within 5 minutes of town. Perhaps we’d go to my favorite gym and lift some weights at the newly remodeled YMCA, or just have a cocktail at My neighbor Felix restaurant right on 9th and Pearl while we people watch. Then it’s back up the beautiful, meandering drive up the canyon with jaw dropping views to my home in Nederland.
