Meet Jonny Kupin | Founder of Selah Coffee

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonny Kupin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonny, what do you attribute your success to?
If I had to boil it down, the most important factor behind our success has been how we serve people. When my wife Vanessa and I started Selah Coffee, it wasn’t just about making great coffee, it was about creating moments. Pauses in the middle of busy events where people could slow down, connect, and feel cared for. From day one, we decided we’d go the extra mile for every client, whether that meant showing up early to make sure everything felt perfect or crafting a custom branded experience that matched their brand or wedding theme.
That simple commitment to excellence and genuine hospitality became our foundation. We started with one cart and a dream, often working out of our small apartment and wondering if we could really make it work. Fast forward a few years, and we’ve grown into a fleet of carts and an incredible team serving clients we never imagined we’d reach – brands like the Denver Broncos, Google Cloud, Vuori, Adobe, the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, and Audi.
What’s wild is that our approach hasn’t really changed. The heart behind it is still the same. People may remember the latte art or the setup, but what they really remember is how we made them feel. That’s what Selah has always been about and that’s what continues to drive our success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Selah Coffee apart is our ability to say yes to the creative visions of our clients. We specialize in transforming coffee service into an experience, one that elevates brand activations, corporate gatherings, and private events alike. Our team thrives on bringing ambitious ideas to life, whether that means designing a fully branded espresso bar and coffee shop experience or crafting a custom menu that reflects a company’s identity.
Behind every event is a dedicated coordination and communications team that handles every detail from start to finish. Our process is built for precision, seamless logistics, clear communication, and a commitment to excellence that allows our partners to trust us completely. We know how important it is for brands to make a lasting impression, and we take pride in being part of that moment.
Getting here wasn’t easy. We’ve grown by saying yes to challenges, stepping into new opportunities, and finding creative solutions where others might say no. Whether it was how to serve 1,000 people in a short amount of time, or trying to buildout custom spaces, that mindset has shaped Selah into more than a coffee catering company. It’s a partner in creating memorable, high-touch experiences that leave people talking long after the event ends.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Denver for the week, I’d want to give them a mix of great food, coffee, and those mountain views that never get old. We’d start the trip with a visit to Sapor Coffee, one of my favorite spots in the city for a perfectly crafted pour-over and good conversation. From there, we’d probably swing by Milk Tea People for something refreshing and a change of pace.
At some point in the week, we’d have to grab dinner at Joy Hill, they’ve got some of the best pizza in Denver and a rooftop view that’s hard to beat. We’d walk it off with a slow evening stroll through Wash Park, especially if it’s golden hour. There’s something about that light and the community vibe there that just feels like Denver.
To wrap things up, we’d take a drive up to Lookout Mountain for those classic Colorado views, it’s the kind of spot that makes you pause and remember why we live here. Simple things, good food, and great company. That’s the best way to experience this city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to our parents. They’ve been behind us since day one, believing in our vision even when it was just an idea and a sketch of a coffee cart. They’ve helped us build, paint, lift, and load more times than I can count. Anytime we had a big event coming up or a new cart to finish, they were right there beside us, sleeves rolled up, making it happen.
Their support and belief in us gave us the confidence to keep going, especially in those early days when everything felt uncertain. Looking back, Selah wouldn’t be what it is today without their love, their work ethic, and the way they always showed up for us. I’m endlessly grateful for that.
