Meet Jamie Rogers | Photographer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, what’s your definition for success?
Success is extremely relative and I think it also evolves throughout our lives. What I pictured success to be in my teens and twenties is very different from what I see it as now. I once thought making a ton of money and having all sorts of nice things meant you were successful but that couldn’t be more inaccurate to me today. Success is a feeling, not a social status to me. What you do each day to move forward in life is how I define success. If you put forth your best effort and try to improve yourself mentally, physically, emotionally and/or financially each day then you are living a successful life in my book. We all have successes and failures each and every day so how you deal with each of those defines who you are. So, if you set goals, work hard towards those goals each and every day and deal with all of the shortcomings that come along with that journey, then you’re a success to me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started out as a landscape photographer as I wanted to learn how to better capture the amazing places I explored in Colorado and beyond. Then, when COVID hit, I transitioned into shooting cityscapes as we weren’t able to travel far and the streets in Denver were essentially empty. That eventually led me to purchasing my first drone to capture the city from different perspectives. I then started getting noticed for all of my drone work on social media and eventually actual business inquiries started coming in so I decided to take my photography into a full time career.
Now I’ve taken everything I’ve learned from shooting various subjects and using different techniques to creating my own style of photography. I try to blend different elements from landscape, cityscape/street and drone photography to create something truly unique in all of my work. This does present its challenges as sometimes it’s truly hard to define my exact style of photography but it definitely keeps things interesting.
Today I focus my photography efforts on the hospitality, tourism and the short term rental worlds and have even taken on content creation as video seems to be taking over. Either way, it’s been an interesting ride and I look forward to what the future holds!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m a mountain man first so I would take any friend or visitor straight to the mountains if possible. If it’s in the Winter we’d be strapping a snowboard to our feet to fly down the mountain as often as possible. I’ll pretty much snowboard at any resort if there is snow but I’m a fan of Vail, Copper and Keystone in my area.
If it’s in the Summer, we’d throw on some hiking shoes and head to the trails and potentially bag some peaks or strap a backpacking pack on and head out for a multi-day journey in the wilderness. My favorite area of Colorado is the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado so we’d definitely head down that way. I’d probably consider summiting Mt Sneffels again as that is one of my favorite peaks in the San Juans for the epic views! No matter what kind of activity we ended up getting into I’d definitely stop off at Weisbaden Hot Springs in Ouray to relax in the underground vapor caves and soothe those aching muscles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my entire family as each one of them has played an integral role in me getting to where I am today. I literally could not have done it without each and every one of them. They always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself so their continued support means the world to me!
