We had the good fortune of connecting with Liddy Bruce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liddy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is quality. Every service I provide has the same level of quality. Whether it’s the hand or foot massage I give with a manicure or pedicure, or the nail art I do. Even the process I follow during a facial. I never spare the extra minute to skimp on the quality of what I do. Every person deserves that extra minute, and I want them to leave their appointments consistently feeling like they had the most positive experience possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
All of the nail art I do is hand painted. I’m a perfectionist and I’m very meticulous when it comes to my execution. I just think about how my clients are walking around with my tiny canvases on their nails and that makes me so excited and want that perfection.

It’s taken years of practice and finding the right brushes, polishes and techniques to get to this point. At times it has been so frustrating. I definitely have the tendency to get down on myself when things don’t turn out perfect, but I’ve had to learn that I am my own biggest critic. Most times people don’t see the mistakes I see. They’re always so happy with their nails. I’ve had to learn to accept that perfection does not equal happiness and that it’s not about me it’s about them. Their nails represent who they are and their style.

At the end of the day I want people to know that I truly care so much about my clients and their nail journey. I want them to look at their hands and their nails and feel confident, happy and proud. I love to be a part of that and that’s what drives me to do the best I can for my clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely start with Red Rocks. Such an iconic venue we have in Colorado. Any performance you see there will be spectacular. The Denver Zoo and the Denver Art Museum would also be on the list. If it’s Summer time I’d say play a round of golf at Broken Tee and then lounge by the South Platte in River Run Park after. A few quintessential Colorado restaurants I would take them to would be Grand Station, The Melting Pot and the Cherry Cricket. Zomo is also fabulous. Their Bahn mi bites and sake margarita are amazing.

I spend a lot of time at various places off Broadway. The Englewood Tavern, a little dive bar off Radcliffe is one of my favorite places. It’s a family owned establishment with a great patio in the back. Mama D makes amazing food and I have so much love for all of the bartenders. My boyfriend says it’s my third place… first is home, second is work. It’s like Cheers.
I love the Gothic Theater too. It’s such a cozy venue with an old school feel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot to my mom, Jenny. She has always encouraged me to take the next step and to just keep pushing forward. When I decided to go independent with my business she did everything she could to help me get to where I wanted to be. She has an amazing work ethic and I strive to echo that.

I also have to thank my boyfriend John who has helped me through a lot, specifically in the last couple years.

Lastly, all of my friends, who take any chance they get to talk about the nails I do. Word of mouth is huge in my industry and I’m so grateful for them always trying to spread the word.
