Meet Kody ‘BIG MO’ Mommaerts: The Youngest Ring Announcer in the World

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kody ‘BIG MO’ Mommaerts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kody ‘BIG MO’, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I set small incremental goals. Ofcourse I have my ultimate dream in mind, but I have found that setting goals that compound over time allows for success to build upon itself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Kody ‘BIG MO’ Mommaerts and I am entertainer! Entertainment has taken the form of hosting events, acting, voiceover work and most notably my growing brand in the world of Combat Sports, specifically MMA & Boxing. I am the youngest ring announcer in the world by an average of 30 years. The ‘BIG MO’ brand is built off of a love to entertain. I love creating an experience and an atmosphere for people. Smiles, cheers, laughs and an overall good time is what I strive to create for everyone in attendance!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a city person, so start to finish we’ll be downtown. The breakfast options in Denver are always strong, whether it be Sam’s, The Lobby, or Syrup, they’ll be having something with Green Chile on it. Later in the day we’ll have to grab a drink at my favorite bar 54Thirty that easily has the best view in the city. Finally and most importantly I’ll have my friend fly out for Fight Night. I announce fights for Sparta Sports and Entertainment. The fight nights are an absolute blast, especially with a group of friends…and if you come with BIG MO, you know you’ll get some great seats!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am fortunate to be a part of a friend group that constantly challenges one another to be better. We are all striving for success in our own field, and we always share what we have achieved. This has created an expectation of excellence that pushes everyone else to chase what they want most.
