We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxanne Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roxanne, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As a young teen in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, I fell in love with makeup and hairstyling. I was obsessed with those Teen Bop magazines and always wanted to see the newest trend of my female role models like Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, etc. The butterfly clips were everything!!! Trying to recreate those trends on myself or my friends throughout the years, I just remember having soo much fun. In my early twenties, I finally decided to attend cosmetology school in downtown Denver at the Aveda Institute. The best decision of my life! Now in my thirties I’m only in the beginning of my career. I fell in love with not only the art of beauty but how humbling it is. Creating transformations as my clients find their inner and outer confidence is very rewarding. The opportunities are endless and everyday teaches me something new!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry ever since I was in middle school. Growing up, my parents were set on having me attend a prestigious college and continue to have a city or government career. After graduating high school I made the decision to pursue law enforcement which was another career interest of mine. Then one day, I decided to quit college after a couple of years and pursue my real dream as an artist. At that point I realized to make my dreams a priority because if I’m going to work hard in life it better be doing something that I love! Ever since I decided to live my dream as an artist, I’ve been apart of the most amazing moments that I will remember the rest of my life! For the past 7 years I’ve learned to do what is best for myself as a person and for my career, as we all should. Now that I’m in the beginning of my own business, I’m excited to grow into my own brand-stay tuned!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Time in Colorado is endless! We get the best of four seasons which makes the weather here amazing year round. The mountains, the city, the restaurants, the music, movies on the Rocks, everywhere you go there is something to experience. A perfect vacation in Colorado would be to spend time in the mountains during the first part of the week- it’s not super crowded so you can actually enjoy the atmosphere. Mid week through the weekend would be the time to be in the city and experience the liveliness. Brunch, concerts in the park, food festivals, sports games and patio hangs are the best! If you’ve been to Colorado, you know what I’m talking about. I’m lucky to be a native!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My love goes to those that have given me guidance, inspiration and support throughout my career and that continue to do so! From my educators in cosmetology school, to my mentors throughout the years and artists that keep the education alive on social media. Everyday I’m inspired by the creativity surrounding me! My biggest shoutout goes to my family, friends and clients for always showing me love and support! True blues- I couldn’t do it without you!
