We had the good fortune of connecting with David Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is something that comes with the job. You have to take a risk to push yourself in life no matter the cause. Worst case scenario it doesn’t work out, best case scenario it does. Worst thing to do to yourself is when the end comes you’ll regret not taking the risk of finding out whatever it is you’re seeking out in life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m originally from NYC and have been making films since the age of 7. It’s always been a dream of mine to be a filmmaker. I’ve produced many music videos, promos, short films and commercials over the past couple of years. I’m currently working at Wake Up Pueblo in Pueblo, CO. I am a Production Manager and am also head video producer for Snooze Sleep which is also owned by my boss Matt Smith. Wake Up Pueblo, came to be because the Discovery Channel’s Undercover Billionaire sent one of the billionaires to Pueblo. Grant Cardone had 90 days to create a million dollar company. He did so by teaming up with Matt Smith who launched Wake Up Pueblo. We are a content marketing company and are serving Colorado and have recently signed on clients from Miami, Georgia, Chicago, etc. Along with Wake Up Pueblo, Matt owns Snooze Mattress / Sleep which is where I’ve been making the most of my recent videos. I’ve also started the 72 hour Kick-Ass Film Fest along with my friend Jacob Rivera. He’s the lead Graphic Designer at Wake Up Pueblo and together we put the whole event together and we just wrapped up the ceremony for the filmmakers on July 10th. It’s definitely been a crazy ride getting up to where I am at today and I am looking forward to see what’s ahead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m still learning about new spots here in Colorado. My best friend Dennis recently came into town. I took him out to some spots in Springs to go hiking. We also explored Denver and in Pueblo I took them to Lobos. I wouldn’t be the greatest at recommending spots just yet.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to say it’s my wife and kids. Since having kids they have become my main priority in making sure I have a roof over their heads and spoiling the shit out of them as my parents did to me. My wife has pushed me in pursuing my filmmaking career even when I had some moments of not wanting to continue making videos and films. She’s the reason we got the hell out of Florida and made our move to Colorado Springs which led me to the job I am at now.
