We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Grim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As I’ve grown older, I’ve become more acutely aware of what role my work plays in the greater environment. After years of offering products or services through my sales career that directly benefited large corporations, I really wanted to offer something that helped everyday people. That in combination with a sense of adventure lead me to cannabis. I went to a convention for cannabis professionals in 2015 with no experience in the industry looking for a new opportunity. I spent three days walking the expo floor, learning the business models, and talking to anyone that would engage me. When I was done I had three clear takeaways. First, California would likely go legal in the next election creating a slew of business opportunities. What a great time to get a jump on the competition. Secondly, the feeling of activism in the industry felt really good. I wanted to be a part of that. Finally, the beverage segment of Cannabis was not a force – yet. As I was looking for an alternative to my alcohol use and this seemed to make too much sense. It was clear to me then, as it is today. We drink beer, wine and spirits. We drink socially. We drink culturally. Eventually, people will want to drink their cannabis. Away I went to create cannabis beverage products as an alternative to alcohol. It was a great decision.

What should our readers know about your business?
Building a business in the Cannabis space has been exciting and at times fun. Especially since my business partner is one of my closest friends. Easy though? No, not easy. Fortunately, we’re from Jersey. We just grinded to make it happen. Now, I’m excited because we’re creating products that offer people not just a high, but energy or relaxation or something in between. We’ve moved to the next level of our product development through the inclusion of terpenes. If known cannabinoids such as THC and CBD are the instruments in the band. It’s terpenes that represent the harmony. It’s exciting to be making next level products for those looking for specific effects and alternatives to alcohol.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If the view off Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach, San Diego happened as seldom as an eclipse, it would be the hottest event of the year! Let’s grab an ice cold cannabis infused beverage, put out a blanket and talk about life.

Then at night, we may catch some live tunes at a Winston’s or a Belly up. I am always looking for the Acid Jazz bands like So Cal based Karl Denson and his Tiny Universe. This is a man that took jazz and made it funky and danceable. Amazing stuff!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my business partner Billy Roberts. There’s zero chance I would have made it this far without his help. Love you brother!
