We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Holtgraves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?       

Lift Coffee Bar was born out of the need to provide excitement, energy, connection, and enjoyment to our shared community! Our mission is simple – to get you happy! Whether that means giving you…Energy for the work grind, a boost before the kids’ sports game, an energy buzz before going out with friends, Lift Coffee Bar will get you to your happy place!

We’re in the business of happiness. Our success is measured not only by the cups of coffee we craft, but by the smiles and community we’ve helped built. The support of our friends and neighbors has been invaluable, and we aim to give back with our enthusiastic Lift energy. We have been using our platform to encourage and spread happiness throughout our community because who doesn’t need a little love these days? We also partner with a variety of local northern Colorado nonprofit groups to help fundraise for causes that impact our direct community. We want to better the community and inspire people to connect, all while providing amazing drinks for people to conquer their day.

One of our favorite events we created and facilitated over the last few years was “Rolled & Mugged” held on Christmas day. This event was in collaboration with a local bakery, The Pie Tin, ourselves and a few other local Johnstown business. We produce and deliver hot coffee and fresh cinnamon rolls to nominated recipients who have had a rough year or holiday season and need a little extra love. The nominations come to us in all forms. In 2020, we handed out 395 cups of coffee, 240 pans of cinnamon rolls and could not have done it without the help of 30+ volunteers helping make deliveries on Christmas day. When doing a delivery, the face of an unknowing recipient is all you need to see to know this event touches people in a special way.

What should our readers know about your business?                                     

Lift Coffee Bar is northern Colorado born and raised. We are the definition of a small business. We’re not a franchise, we don’t have corporate office telling us what to do or how to make things. Everything is made from scratch using the highest quality ingredients right here in Johnstown, Colorado. Our crew continuous taste tests to determine which drink combinations will make your taste buds dance for the next seasonal delight. We’re only closed one day a year so each and every morning, we wake up early and strive to make amazing beverages to make sure we can help you find your happy no matter what day it is. We have been perfecting our craft and streamlining processes over the last few years and are hungry to start impacting more people all over the Northern Colorado.

Every business has challenges and we’ve had our share just like everyone else. You can only control what you can control so learning how to take each opportunity presented and figure out how to grow from it is all you can do. No one is perfect, so each day my staff and I strive to get better focusing on the little details and the things we can control.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?          

I would definitely start my day with the best coffee in northern Colorado and swing by Lift Coffee Bar for a tasty treat to kick off any adventure. Next, I recommend heading outside for some fun in the sun: hiking, golfing, fishing, skiing or hanging near a lake. Something outside would take up most of the day and it can be done year round here which is what makes this place amazing. A brewery stop or two would only make sense following these adventures. My favorites are Weldworks, Purpose, New Belgium, Verboten, Loveland Ale Works or Backyard Tap. Then for eats if we don’t grill out, we would head to one of these local spots around town: Door 222, Ginger & Baker, Chimney Park, Denver Biscuit Company or Linger. Colorado is about being outside and enjoying the wonderful weather. The more you can be outside the better!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?                                                                                              First and foremost, my entire staff is truly amazing and are all rockstars! Without them there would be no Lift Coffee Bar. They inspire others and myself to make the world a better place…what more could you ask for? Secondly, I would not be where I’m at today without my family and girlfriend: John, Katherine, Tori, Merilee & Ashley. They have all shaped me into the person I am today, showing me how to work hard, dream big and #GetHappy!
