We had the good fortune of connecting with Tel Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor for my success is understanding that working for the money will kill your momentum and quality. My goal is to give my clients the best quality of service and support during and after our deal. The best reward you can see is a client that becomes a friend. Putting care into my clients and ensuring they are priority one allows for the best results. The transaction becomes more of personal focus rather than finical transaction.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Real Estate at the age of 20, I was at one point the youngest agent in Colorado and under Berkshire Hathaway as well. This was a trial from the get go as a lot of people disregarded me right away because of my age. Lucky enough my Managing Broker and great inspiration Ashley Blackmore is a young broker as well and from the beginning she took me under her wing and taught me how a top producing agent creates business. She showed me how age is a tool and how I could use mine as a key attribute in my business. Besides age, I truly would say what set me apart early and allowed to me to sell over $9,000,000 worth of property in my first year is I run my business with one sentence “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”. I’m in a relationship driven business and putting that thought for front allows me to seek deeper relationships and understandings with my clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you were coming to the Four Corners I would say you have to visit Mesa Verde National Park, a corner stone of our area. Not only is it a unique form of National Parks, in the fact it is man made but also has some great dining options. In Durango Steamworks is an amazing brewery with some of the best food and beer around. We live in an outdoor paradise that has something for everyone year round. We have the Dolores and Animas rivers great for rafting, fly fishing, and enjoying the water. Hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, with Phils World Mountain Bike Park being the focal point.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
