We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Braswell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
From my years spent in the corporate world as a sales representative, I learned the importance of timely communication. Throughout my sales career, it was expected that my customers would receive follow-ups and answers within a few hours. That could be overwhelming and stressful at times, but I learned the value of communicating and delivering information to my customers. This is a practice that I’ve taken into my private functional nutrition practice. I want my clients to feel valued and take pride in supporting clients in a timely manner. I’ve made it my personal goal to respond to clients within 24 hours during the days that I’m in the office. When I’m out of town or taking time off, I want to honor stepping back and resting too, so in those instances, I set an out of office and respond when I’m back.

I’ve learned that my clients like having a practitioner that they feel supported by and that is available for them! Often times when working to heal the body and optimize nutrition, little questions often pop up, so I’m grateful to be able to provide this kind of open communication for them.

What should our readers know about your business?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and eventually found myself spending most of my summers adventuring through the Rocky Mountains and falling in love with the great outdoors. I began my career in the natural food industry working for companies like Kind Bar, Justin’s and REBBL. I learned a vast amount about business, working with vendors, distributors and customers and most importantly, how our food is sourced.

My love affair with the West eventually led my husband and I to Boulder, Colorado, where I currently reside as a Registered Yoga Teacher and Holistic Nutritionist / Functional Medicine Consultant. I completed my Masters program in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University in 2020 and have worked in the Natural Food Industry as a sales rep for over 8 years. I launched my nutrition consulting business in early 2021 and have learned a lot about working as an entrepreneur. I’ve really enjoyed building my own brand and have really had to up my understanding of marketing and social media skills – but that has really helped me better market my business and reach different clients.

Growing up with a health-conscious family, my passion for real food and wellness started at an early age. My mom was always a true advocate for my own health and wellness. Now, I truly feel like it is my turn to be an advocate for others through real food, intentional living, wellness, and community.

I became passionate about working alongside women in their journey through childbirth, after experiencing the birth of my son. My specific areas of interest are preconception health, fertility, prenatal nutrition and supplementation, gestational diabetes, breastfeeding and postpartum care (focusing on nurturing mama and baby).

I specialize in functional nutrition for families – especially the mama or mama to be who is looking to maximize their time adventuring with their little ones! I believe in meeting her clients where they are in their health journey to regain balance and vibrant health.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom, Sandy Nannen, definitely deserves some credit and recognition in my story! She is a holistic nutritionist as well and is a huge part of the reason that I decided to pursue a career in this industry. Growing up, my mom was always such a huge advocate for our health; always researching new supplements, foods and resources to keep our family healthy. She raised 4 kids and even had time to further her education and help others along the way.

She has always encouraged me to never stop learning and be an advocate for my own health. When working as a sales rep, she really helped me manifest my end goal – starting my own holistic nutrition practice. She was a huge supporter of my work throughout my masters program for nutrition and never ceased to answer my long list of questions. I’m so thankful for her support and being such an amazing mentor and mom!
