We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Throughout my years in the human service field, I worked with several different populations that were at a high risk of incidents of trauma. When I paired this with healing my own trauma, I realized the most effective way to help people heal from trauma was to use a holistic, integrative approach. This solidified for myself even more once I opened up my mental health private practice. I simply did not feel like I was doing my clients justice with just psychotherapy as I knew that trauma took hold of all areas of person’s being. From here I developed a highly effective holistic protocol to the treatment of trauma. This is continuing to be fine tuned and I hope to patent it soon. This actually created the ide for all three of my businesses. All of them are focused on healing trauma in various ways and helping people heal so they can move forward in an empowered manner.

What should our readers know about your business?
Entreprenuership is not an easy path but for me it was inevitable. I started my first business when I was 6 selling pictures of turkeys I made out of the outline of my hand to my neighbors. I have always felt that I was really, truly meant to do what I am doing in guiding others through the healing process. This essentially ended up growing in to three different businesses. I own a mental health private practice, a coaching and consulting business, and a retail business focused on products for mental health and spiritual development. All three of these continue to develop as I fine tune my skills as a curator, medicine woman, coach, business consultant, and psychotherapist. If I could give myself one piece of advice during the development of all of these along with a strong social media presence is to remain solid in your consistency as that will keep you moving forward. I have never had an issue with second guessing myself, even when homeless due to rough spots in my business. I do think more consistency would have gotten me here quicker.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few of my favorite spots in Denver include the art district, most specifically in RiNo. I love art and Denver has such a beautiful eclectic art space. I also very much enjoy the Stanley Marketplace. They have so many different cultural places to eat with lovely little boutiques. And of course, I would take anyone to the mountains. The Rockies are absolutely spectactular and there are so many wonderful little mountain towns to choose from. My favorite is Nederland because they have amazing pizza at CrossCut. Hiking fuels and soothes my soul.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have read several books, had many mentors, and followed so many inspirational people. However, the shoutout really needs to go to my clients. Their bravery in the vulnerability of the healing process paired with the resiliency and courage to move forward from their darkest moments is why I do what I do and continue to be so dedicated to my work.
