Meet Courtney Bussard | Life & Business Coach + Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Bussard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never thought I would own my own business. I always wrote it off as something I wasn’t capable of. It all changed in 2020 for me.
In August of 2019 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. The next few months were rock bottom for me. I was living alone working 3 jobs to afford my apartment & barely getting by- financially as well as health wise. I was overworking myself for other people’s dreams because I was a hardcore people pleaser. My health was suffering because of all the pressure & stress I had. How was I working so much but still barely getting by?
I ended up in the hospital in January of 2020- and while I was in there for 5 days, I had a lot of life realizations. I knew I had to stop burning myself out working for other people- I wasn’t following my dreams & this was a big reality check for me. I didn’t want my life to look like what it was. I wanted freedom- creative, time, location, and creative freedom. I knew I needed to make a big change.
I thought “what would happen if I took all the energy that I poured into jobs & other people’s dreams & started to pour that into something for myself?” In the hospital I decided I was going to start a blog.
After my stay in the hospital, I had to leave Colorado & move back home to Maryland to get my health back. Once I got my Ulcerative Colitis in remission- I just started trying things out. I knew I wanted to create something of my OWN, but I wasn’t sure what. I just knew I was done overworking myself for other people. It was time to chase my OWN desires!
I started with creating artwork as a means to keep myself busy during the beginning COVID months & ended up also starting a blog that I named “Journey to Limitless.” The inspiration behind the blog came from being so limited health wise to being on a fitness & wellness journey. I realized it wasnt the medium for me though, I like to speak!
I started to listen to podcasts about life coaching & it was REALLY intriguing to me. I loved to help others & it felt like this was my way! I decided to start a podcast in December of 2020 called “Journey to Limitless” as well as take a 6-month life coaching course to become Certified.
My journey has been all over the place as you can see but it led me to my coaching business that I feel SO aligned in. At first, I didn’t believe entrepreneurship was for me but now I wouldn’t do anything else 🙂

What should our readers know about your business?
Journey To Limitless Life Coaching, LLC really aims to help individuals that crave more freedom, but are working full time, build their dream coaching business without burning themselves out!
The reason I decided to take this path was because all of my life I wanted time, location, financial, & create freedom & to also make an IMPACT within a career. Once I found out about coaching, I knew this was my path & calling. It all clicked for me. Since diving into my coaching practice, for the first time in my life I see all of the freedom I crave ahead! But what almost stopped me from getting started was the fact that I work a full-time job. I didn’t feel I had the time to focus on a business. However, I knew my dream life was on the other side of starting this coaching business.
I know there are so many others that crave the freedom that I do, but their full-time job is holding them back. I’m here to show them that it doesn’t have to!
Over the last year in my business, I have experienced a lot of trial and error. I now have a system that allows me to work my full-time job, build my business, WHILE ALSO still having FUN!!
& THAT is what sets Journey To Limitless Life Coaching, LLC apart..
I’m not going to just ask my clients what their goals are for their business. I’m going to ask them about how they are having fun & enjoying their life as they are building their dream coaching business.
My signature program, The Side Coaching Biz Academy, is all about helping aspiring coaches make time for their business alongside their full-time job without burning out! The focus of this program is to help clients go from having no niche/clear direction, to launching a Signature GROUP Coaching Program & attracting their first paid clients!
As mentioned above, I have experienced a lot of trial & error over the last year. I have experienced the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship. The high highs where I feel so proud & unstoppable, and the low lows where I feel like throwing in the towel completely.
But what keeps me going is MENTORSHIP, vulnerability & support.
Having people in my life that are a few steps ahead that tell me they experience the hard times too. Being vulnerable & open about my struggles helps me to connect with others that have been there, too. Entrepreneurship can feel really lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Community is everything in entrepreneurship, I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. Honestly, hiring a coach from the beginning has been one of the most beneficial investments- even though I didn’t have the money. I paid for my coaches on a credit card + cleared my savings. I knew I needed support if I was going to make this dream happen. It paid off tenfold.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to not give up!! Putting yourself out on social media is SCARY & it can feel like no one cares what you have to say….
But people do care. People love what you do even if they aren’t telling you. You will want to give up, & then all the sudden you will receive a sign to keep going. You will receive a sign that the work you are doing is making an IMPACT.
I want the world to know that you are LIMITLESS. You have the power to create the life of your dreams as long as YOU remove the limits that you place on yourself. Often time, it is a money or time limit. & also a lot of it comes down to not believing you are worthy of your dream life. You are, sis!!!
There is a future version of you that wants you to MAKE it work. Future you deserves that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to Boulder & go for a hike + grab lunch or dinner on Pearl Street! I love the Rino area for art + restaurants as well. Whenever, I have people in town I always recommend checking out Avante Food & Beverage- the skyline view is AMAZING + love the food truck inspired variety! They would HAVE to go to Red Rocks for obvious reasons 🙂 I recently joined this epic community called The Archipelago, so I would see if there were any events or fun activities that my friend & I could attend together! There’s so much to do & see in Colorado so even just taking a mountain road trip & seeing where we end up would be a BLAST.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Kacia Fitzgerald for pouring belief into me & helping me get my podcast, Journey To Limitless, out into the world. The podcast really jump started every other aspect of my business & I wouldn’t be where I am today without Kacia! @kacia.fitzgerald on IG
