We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Cornely and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
New Castle Trails has played a role in fostering a sense of community and respect for our local outdoor amentities. We have accomplished this by creating our key community event, Rides and Reggae. Rides and Reggae is our annual fundraiser where the community gathers to enjoy live music, and celebrate the outdoor amentities that we have been blessed with in New Castle and the community that we live in. Additionally with the help of the community, we have created a trail network in New Castle that the community is proud of and is fortunate to have right out of our front doors.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Professional Engineer who is a Project Engineer for the State of Colorado. I am proud of the fact that I have been able to find a balance between my professional life as a Project Engineer, father of 2 sons while giving back to the community through the work of our non-profit group, New Castle Trails. I have always believed that doing volunteer work for your community brings a person a lot of joy and satisfaction, and I am fortunate that I have a found a way to do volunteer work that often involves spending time in the mountains on my mountain bike.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Everyone should plan to visit New Castle on the weekend of Rides and Reggae. I would suggest staying in downtown New Castle at one of our local short term home rentals. I would suggest that they enjoy the live music at Rides and Reggae after participating in one of our races that weekend, either our trail running or mountain bike race. While in town you have to grab a pizza and a beer from my friends Dustin and Diane from Hogback Pizza and you have to make time to enjoy the cuisine at Eat Bistro, where my friends Molly and Jeff will ensure you have a wonderul evening. If you have any free time I would encourage everyone to explore our vast network of trails in the mountains surrounding New Castle, either on the new Burning Mountain Trail or or extensive Colorow and Highland Trail networks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of New Castle Trails would not have been possible without the support of the local leaders within the Town of New Castle government and the community itself. The Town leadership has supported our efforts both financially and with support from town staff. The community has supported our efforts by contributing financially to our fundrasing efforts, donating time and equipment to aid in the continued expansion of our trail network.
