We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We were looking to start a business that allowed us to be around our kids a little more. We can drop them off at school and pick them up. We are working from home so if they are sick we don’t have to worry about getting time off work. Also, being able to control the times and days we work has been great.

What should our readers know about your business?
We make Malasadas, Hawaiian donuts. They are very special and unlike any other donuts. They are light and fluffy, rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Traditionally they are unfilled. However, we have found 14 different amazing filling flavors that set ours apart from anyone else. Some challenges have been marketing. Getting the word out and letting people know we are here. 90% of the people we talk to had no idea there was Malasadas in Colorado Springs. We have been working hard on our social media. We have quadrupled our instagram followers in the last 4-6 weeks. Also, trying to sign up for all the events around Colorado Springs. That has helped us get our name and product out to more people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A must see spot for us is ivy wild. We love to bring people there. It’s great for food and drinks. We love all the options it offers and a great concept and atmosphere. We also love pig Latin great food a little loud at times. But great place over all. Another spot we take people is yellow mountain tea house. We really enjoy dinning with them. Great teas and to many to choose from. Great food, there buns are amazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Victoria has been the biggest supporter and my biggest advocate. Without her efforts we would not be as successful.
