Meet Albert Cannon | Rapper/Producer/Writer/Director/Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Albert Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Albert, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In the beginning, I just wanted to do music and be an artist but as my career started to grow, I needed services that I knew nothing about and didn’t know where to get any of them. So, I begin to study and learn how to do more and more. I eventually knew how to do so many things that I realized that I am able to help people and teach people. I grew to learn there is a title for everything in business and my title is “C.E.O.”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others? I do what I can to stand out. Not fit in. Music for me has always been an escape from reality and a chance to have fun. I try to incorporate that into my music. I call myself an “escape artist” as when you listen to a song of mine it will be a second to escape reality and close your eyes and visualize what I’m saying or even have your own video in your head to watch as you close your eyes and listen and escape reality for a moment as you listen to one of my songs.

So far, I am most proud of the knowledge I have and the man I have become myself. Growing up in Aurora, Colorado I could have been anyone but who I am with drugs, guns, gangs and violence surrounding me daily. Having a violent incident at a show of mine had a strong impact on my music today and how I create and what I choose to make. I can be in a room full of the most violent and angry people in the world, but when I perform, for that moment alone, it will change the atmosphere and I will have everyone in that room enjoying the moment and having fun for just that moment. I want to be that guy.

How did I get to where I am today professionally? Was it easy?
NOTHING WORTH IT IS EASY and I still have a long way to go but I got to where I am today with hard work, consistency, dedication, persistence and talent. I overcame a lot of challenges that I faced with knowledge and being able to accept change and growth while accepting knowledge from others that I don’t currently have on my own. I learn a lesson every time I do a public event or I collab with people because I ask questions and listen and do my best to try and retain all the important information.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
THAT HIP-HOP REACHES PLACES YOU WOULD NEVER THINK AND ITS NOT ALWAYS WHAT IS ON TV. ONCE YOU FIND AN ARTIST LIKE ME, YOU WILL KNOW THAT AURORA COLOADO HAS SOMETHING TO SAY AND I DEFINTLY HAVE SOME STORIES TO TELL THAT PEOPLE WILL RELATE TO. SO, CHECK ME OUT!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As far as nightlife, I would make sure that at least two nights THEY WILL BE AT A SHOW OF MINE!!! We would also check out a comedy show at Comedy Works in Downtown Denver as well barhop on the 16th Street Mall. One of the nights we will test our luck as we drive up the mountains to go the casinos in Blackhawk, Colorado. Many spots there you will get all you can eat crab legs. Every other day we will be going to a different dispensary and also going to multiple studios as I do collab with numerous people in the city. Also, make sure you got your dress up clothes as we will be going dancing to a few different nightclubs.
