We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Wenrich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
This question has always been alluring as I draw inspiration from everything around me, in one way or another. Whether that be solo trips to museums, hikes in the mountains, traveling to unknown places, attending music festivals, exploring new cuisines, or simply embracing the infinite design in the world around me. Inspiration is everywhere if you open your eyes to accepting it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Though I don’t compare myself to other designers, what separates me is not only my bold and vibrant stylistic design choices, but my background of unique life experiences. Everything I’ve experienced up until this point has ultimately shaped me into being a timely, client-centric business owner, that provides useful services to solve my client’s branding problems.

The list below gives insight to who I am as a human being, designer, and business owner;

– I was diagnosed with a tumor in my shoulder when I was 15, and then again at 17, which threw a wrench in pursuing a lot of my goals at a young age. The process taught me how to manage my own stress as well as maintain a healthy mental perspective throughout my healing journey. I’m grateful to have come out on the other side, stronger than before.

– I played soccer for 15+ years and 1 year at the collegiate level, which taught me intense time management skills. Between 3 practices a day, traveling on weekends, and balancing school life – multitasking has become embedded in my personality. This period also taught me the value of working with others as a team, to achieve one goal.

– I was in and out of the restaurant industry to get myself through school. While working in various restaurants that spanned from casual to 5 star dining, I learned how to connect with a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life. I also learned how to diffuse tense situations and remain level-headed, especially when in management roles.

– Lastly, this layer has been (and will continue to be) extremely vital to my growth as an individual and artist. I’ve always been into music but the real awakening took place when I discovered weekend-long, immersive camping festivals. I’ve learned so much about myself and from other creatives over the past decade, voyaging to different festivals around the country. My first camping fest in 2015 is what opened me up to the beauty of design. After the 4-day experience, I drove to my college and switched my major from business to design… the rest is truly history and I never looked back.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As for activities, Red rocks is #1 on my list. It’s always a top priority when I have friends in town, especially from FL. Whether we actually see a show or simply stroll the trails around the venue. It’s one of my favorite activities to do with visitors. Another epic activity I try to include in the itinerary is the St Mary’s Glacier hike. Although it’s viewed as one of the most basic hikes in CO, it’s a go-to when visitors want to explore the mountains but don’t want anything too crazy. A quick little hike up for a STELLAR lake/mountain view.

As for cuisines… this is a loaded question as I’m a big foodie. Top 3 restaurants in the city would have to Uchi because sushi is my absolute fav, El Five for lovely tapas with a view of the city, and Spuntino for the most creative Italian dishes in Denver.

For drinks and late night hangs; you can never go wrong highlands and broadway. I’m a big fan of rooftop bars with craft cocktails and view of the mountains. The Historian is one of my go-tos!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The saying goes “it takes a village” and it has truly taken the support of my incredible family and friends to get to where I am today. My support system is EVERYTHING and I’m lucky to have the best people surrounding me.

I will wholeheartedly dedicate this article to my partner, Chris. He’s been an imperative influence on me for the past 7 years and pushes me every single day to be the best version of myself, while pursuing paths that bring me joy and help me grow. He’s supported me every step of the way, especially when I quit my full-time job and chose to pursue my own design business in July, 2022.
