We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I became an aesthetician 9 years ago and I’ll be honest, I’ve had a lot of jobs in this industry. Since the moment I started working under other people, I have witnessed too many unethical situations and safety concerns. I hopped from place to place, searching for a healthy environment in which clients and employees were treated with respect. To my surprise, it was extremely difficult to find!

I love learning and keeping up with this industry, for that reason there are dozens of certifications under my belt. I just couldn’t find a spa that allowed me to use them all in one place. Finding a day spa that actually delivered results was impossible, as was a medical setting that still allowed clients to relax. I wanted to do it all, the best of both worlds for myself and my clients. I eventually decided that for all these reasons, my only option was to go out and create it on my own.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

True Derm MedSpa is what i like to call the best of both worlds. You can come in for luxurious relaxing facials or you could come in for effective medical treatments that get amazing results. Most of my clients take advantage of the relaxation & corrective options offered.

Every facial begins with a quick survey of how the client would like to customize their session. Choose your table heat level, your choice of complementary aromatherapy, your beverage choice, what kind of spa related music you’d like to hear, etc. Every service can be totally different if you want it to be, or you could keep it 100% the same if you fall in love with a blend you created in the past!
I carry a few different product lines to ensure every skin type is treated with the best care. I have holistic, natural, plant based lines as well as powerful more aggressive skincare options to use in the treatment room. Best of all, the clients never have to worry about paying extra to customize product options to their skin. Want to fix your acne or focus on those dark spots? All included!

As for a more medical side, I offer mild, medium, and deep Chemical Peels, Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion, Microcurrent Facelifts, LED Thereapy, and the most popular… Microneedling. Consultations and skin analysis’ are also complimentary with every service booked.

Getting to where I am today has taken a lot of motivation, determination, and many extra hours in the evening, weekends, even on holidays. Looking back, it all feels like everything easily fell into place for me to succeed. I take that as a sign that I’m on the right path and I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do! I absolutely adore my career and going into the spa every single day. I have to give an extra shoutout to all of my clients here too as I love them all and I wouldn’t be here today without them!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

My absolute favorite restaurants would have to be Sierra in Lone Tree or Slattery’s Pub for when I’m in more of a casual mood.

My hubby and I are currently expecting, but our go to drinking spots are Historians Ale House, Recess Beer Garden, and a glass of wine on the couch because let’s face it… sometimes that’s just the best choice!

If I had some friends visiting we would definitely go to my favorite rock climbing gym, do the Manitou Incline, see a concert at Red Rocks, and maybe head to Water World for some good ol’ summer fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people in my life who support me and my business, however one stands out in my mind above the rest… and that would be my husband, Nash. Going out on my own and building a business from the ground up is terrifying to say the least! I had many doubts and fears about if it didn’t work out and how we would manage financially etc. He really gave me that encouraging push I needed by telling me 100% I could make it. He believed in me more than I even believed in myself, and that’s why I owe this shoutout to him!
