We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Gates and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Being in the metaphysical world can be tricky, because there’s so many grey areas. Most people immediately think that the metaphysical world is just energy work, crystals, candles and herbs. It’s not just that though, it’s a community filled with people who come from all walks of life and provide something beautiful to learn from. It’s a space for people to make connections, friendships, and experience self-growth. It’s filled with artists, scientists, psychologists, those who love to explore the unknown, and dive deeper into culture or history. It’s a space that you can truly be yourself without judgment, a space where you can find healthy coping mechanisms if needed, or you can get in touch with the rich history of life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lee’s Magick and Witchery is such a beautiful company that I had the pleasure to create. When I started my business, it was merely a way of extra income as my hours were reduced with the company I had been working with during the pandemic. After my car accident it was incredibly difficult to keep up with working in the industry I was in due to my injuries, something had to change, so after I was laid off due to lack of work, I dove into my business to provide for myself. It was terrifying I didn’t know exactly what I was doing, but I did know that I depended on myself to make it happen. When I started my business, I assumed that people wanted an aesthetically pleasing, niche focused company to purchase from and human to get to know. That’s never really been who I am though, so I decided to just be myself. I share my successful moments, my unsuccessful moments, my trauma healing, and experiences throughout life including the disabilities. The hope is that maybe, I can help just one person make the changes in their lives as well that leads to security and peace. It hasn’t been easy, however it’s an uphill battle I won’t back down from. My products and services have a reputation of their own and it’s beautiful to see my clients creative side come out with every order.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The tourist gold mine as I like to call it, is genuinely a mix of my favorite places to go regardless of the day. We would start out with a drive to Woodland Park, stop at this little family owned gas station that has some of the nostalgia goodies, then head out to Cripple Creek and Victor. We of course have to stop and check out the overlook points before heading in to Cripple Creek after a few hours there, we’d drive to Victor and stay at The Black Monarch hotel. After staying the night, we would drive back into town through Old Stage and head to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. They have incredible experiences like feeding the grizzly bears and it’s phenomenal. After a day at the zoo, I’d recommend they stay at The Great Wolf Lodge to relax for the night, before heading to Denver for the rest of the trip we’d stop by Omelet’s Etc for some of the best green chili in town, then it’s on the road to MeowWolf. Since MeowWolf can take the entire day to enjoy, we would stay the evening in Denver and grab dinner at Rockbottom, they have some of the best fish tacos. To end the trip, I’d offer a few different places as unfortunately not everything could be done in one day, The Denver Art Museum, The Denver Botanical Gardens, The Denver Zoo or the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This itinerary barely scratches the surface, however it’s a beautiful example of everything Colorado has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to my beautiful husband, parents, and clients. If it wasn’t for them, I’m not entirely sure where I would be today. They keep me pushing to learn, grow and evolve as a woman and I’m incredibly thankful to have them in my life.
