We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexaundria Farias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexaundria, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Baking is an artform. It’s artistry you get to eat! Each “artist” designs and creates a unique masterpiece with each cake, cupcake, cookie. With the rise of Pinterest, at times the creativity is taken away. Clients want exact replicas of the cake, however the cake was created by another artist and not by me. When I create, I seek to know specifically what my client wants so they are getting a unique masterpiece not a Pinterest copy. There is most certainly a place for inspiration from Pinterest, but working alongside your cake designer will add a special unique touch to your event. There is no greater feeling for me than when I can build a unique masterpiece off of the thoughts and inspirations of my clients.

Lola’s a Bakery fully launched in mid 2019 as a Buttercream only, fully-custom, cake, cookie, and pie bakery. I started Lola’s out of a love for cake, hosting people, and painting. When I was younger and asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said an artist. I had zero natural talent with a paintbrush and paper, but somehow I have managed to be an artist with buttercream and a pastry brush!
Anyone who has followed me on Instagram knows my years’ long struggle with macarons. I had tried every recipe, technique, and wishes to make those tiny, delectate cookies but to no avail. The day I cracked the code was the proudest moment in my baking life. To this day macarons are the most technical, intricate, coolest cookie we offer.
What a big question – what do I want the world to know about me, my brand, and story. I have had the privilege of being surrounded by strong, intelligent, and brave women my whole life. When starting Lola’s, I never struggled with a lack of inspiration or representation of strong female leadership and for that I know I am incredibly lucky. I hope when people see me and see Lola’s they can see anyone can run with their passion. I am so very lucky that I have a built-in support system, and I know that is not everyone’s story.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever we travel we ask locals where we should go and often they don’t have any suggestions! So I , as a native of Colorado, have been preparing for this answer my whole life! Welcome to Colorado! Do you have sunscreen and water?! For a week-long stay I would start the trip with three days in Denver proper. I am not a big drinker so the usual brewery tours aren’t my thing. Instead we’d go to Bakery Four, Leven Deli, or Cozy Cottage for breakfast. We’d bike throughout the highlands, walk down Tennyson street, get coffee at Avanti’s in Cherry Creek, go thrifting in Rino. Finally eat dinner at Adelitas, La Loma, Mercantile, or Chook. Day four we’re driving! Bishops Castle is located in Rye Colorado and is one of the craziest feats of architecture you’ll ever see. On our way back to Denver we’d stop in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor and have dinner and just feel special and boujee. The next few days are mountain days! I love Breckenridge. But if we’re doing this let’s take the 6 hour drive to Telluride. The rest of the time is spent in the mountains exploring, shopping at cute local shops, and taking in the majesty of the mountains. I think Colorado is the best!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You are so right, dreams and businesses don’t come about in a vacuum. My dad is an entrepreneur and growing up I had a front row seat to his wins and losses. But seeing his bravery and perseverance gave me such peace to dive headfirst into Lola’s a Bakery. My mom has been a titan of industry leading with such grace, strength, and wisdom. Daily she encourages me. My brother is one of the most creative souls I have ever met. When I am struggling with an idea or concept he pushes me to see beyond. Creatives need other creatives – we just speak a different language. Lola’s a Bakery is named after my Grandma Lola. Watching her lovingly bake for her family has been my inspiration to carry on traditions created by my “GL”.
